- Dukedom - by Wasteland Warrior
-
- General Information - Release 1.00
- ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- The object of the game is to overthrow the existing king, thus
- bringing yourself to power. This goal can be achieved by gradually
- increasing your number of peasants and grain output. (# of peasants
- increase is handled by the wonderful invention of birth) Once you
- feel you have enough military force you can attack the King. If at
- first you don't succeed, try again. You can attack as many times as
- you wish.
-
- Surplus grain (which is used to plant the fields AND to feed
- your people) can be achieved by lucky harvesting and by manipulating
- the prices of land. By this I mean you can treat land as in real
- life, like stocks, more info on this subject will be found in the
- Suggestions & Hints area.
-
- Having enough land is vital to your survival. If you do not
- have enough to fully utilize your resources (surplus grain and
- peasants) their benefits will be wasted. For instance, if you have
- 300 peasants, you will theoretically be able to plant 1000+ acres of
- land, but if you only own 500, they will be eating for free. Kinda
- like Welfare, they have to eat, but there sometimes is nothing for
- them to do in return.
- Land can be gained in several ways. One way is to just buy it.
- Land will come as cheap as 6 bushels of grain per acre, and can cost
- as much as 25 bpa. Another form of real estate aquisition is the
- primordial plunder method, in other words CONQUEST. You can attack
- up to four other dukes (Maybe 8 or more in future versions), those
- on either side of you (north, south, etc.). If you defeat them, the
- territory will become yours, giving you additional land AND peasants.
- Finally, land can be aquired from a number of "special events",
- unpredictable turns of fortune that can make or break you.
-
- Another important element of the game is ATTITUDE. The King
- has an attitude towards you as well as the peasants you rule over.
- These attitudes will fluctuate according to your actions, and
- the actions of Mother Nature...If the peasants are pushed too far
- they will rebel. If the King gets fed up, he will replace you.
- So be careful. Again, look in the Hints area for more info.
-
-
- Thats about it for now. I sincerely hope you like the game
- and I encourage you to E-Mail me ANY suggestions or comments, no
- matter how small or large, good or bad. Thank you and enjoy!
