  68. This package contains the WAV Wars (Version 2.1), by R. Blake Anderson.
  69. This document contains only a brief description of the package and its
  70. features, along with instructions for its installation. Quite detailed
  71. documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived form, and
  72. is more easily read after installation.

  74. WAV Wars is a shareware program.  This evaluation version includes all
  75. features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.  You may use it
  76. for up to 15 days, without charge (see README.TXT for more details).  If
  77. you like the program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation
  78. period, you are required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.TXT for
  79. more details).  Any fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors,
  80. dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version was a fee for their
  81. copying and distribution services, rather than a payment for continued
  82. use of the program.

  100. The installation procedure for WAV Wars is quite simple.  The package
  101. includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the entire process.  You
  102. will need about 3.8 MB (installation may require much less...it depends
  103. on how many on the system DLL files you already have on your system) of
  104. available disk space on the hard drive on which you plan to install WAV
  105. Wars.
  106.  
  107. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  108. WAV Wars.
  109.  
  110.  
  111. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  112.  
  113. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  114.  
  115.    o  Place WAV Wars distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  116.       appropriate diskette drive.
  117.  
  118.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  119.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  120.       the command, "a:install" from Windows 95's run prompt, or double-
  121.       click it from explorer.
  122.  
  123.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  124.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  125.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  126.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  127.       the WAV Wars files to that directory.  If you received WAV Wars
  128.       on multiple diskettes, you will need to insert Disk 2 in the disk
  129.       drive when asked to do so.  If you so direct it, the installation
  130.       program will install executable programs and documentation in
  131.       other directories of your choice.  It will make no other changes;
  132.       specifically, it will not modify your autoexec.bat or config.sys
  133.       files.

  136. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  137.  
  138. If you downloaded WAV Wars from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  139. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  140. following steps.

  142.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  143.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  144.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  145.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  146.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  147.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  148.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  149.       the package.

  151.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  152.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  153.       the WAV Wars package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the command
