  1. QUENZAR TUTORIAL
  2. Print this off and follow it to see how a sample of a game is played.
  3.  
  4. 1. This tutorial assumes you have just installed Quenzar and are
  5.    playing the basic game with no randomized items.
  6. 2. Use the Setup New Game command from the File menu.
  7. 3. Type in the game number 8655 then press the Start New Game button.
  8. 4. You find yourself in the Room at Column 1, Row 3.  The number one
  9.    is displayed on the map.  This indicates that one shocked trapped
  10.    room is nearby.
  11. 5. Go East by clicking on the right arrow button. A single trapped
  12.    room is near this room too.
  13. 6. Go North by clicking on the up arrow button. A single trapped
  14.    room is near this room too.
  15. 7. Go North by clicking on the up arrow button. No trapped rooms are
  16.    adjacent to this room as the number zero is shown.  A black altar is
  17.    in this room.  Search the altar by pressing the search button.  The
  18.    items in the room list box now contains the item 'holy hand grenade'.
  19.    Get the item and put it into your inventory by pressing the Get Item
  20.    button.
  21. 8. Press the Statistics and Inventory button.  The Character Statistics
  22.    & Inventory button are now displayed.  Check your attributes by
  23.    looking at the current strength, dexterity, and intelligence and
  24.    compare them to your maximum.  The higher the better.
  25. 9. The two red potions in your inventory are always potions of
  26.    restoration.  Your weapon in use should be a sword, you should be
  27.    using a small shield and padded armour.  The sword gives you a
  28.    damage bonus up to 4 points, and your armour and shield absorb 2
  29.    points of damage combined.  You start with 2 holy hand grenades and
  30.    should see 3 grenades in your inventory including the one you just
  31.    picked up.
  32. 10.You can use your dagger by clicking on the dagger in the list box
  33.    then pressing the Use button.  Your weapon in use has now changed.
  34.    Note your damage bonus for the weapon is now 1, much worse than the
  35.    sword, so click on the sword and reuse it by clicking on the Use
  36.    button.
  37. 11.Click the Done button to return to the main screen.
  38. 12.Go west by clicking on the left arrow button.  You should be in a
  39.    room with another black altar. Search the altar and pick up another
  40.    grenade using the Get Item command.  You now have 4 grenades.  Note
  41.    this room has the number 2 in it indicating 2 trapped rooms are
  42.    nearby, this means you have more than a 50% chance of running into
  43.    a trapped room that could shock and kill you.  
  44. 13.Go west by clicking on the left arrow button.  A closet is here.
  45.    You can search it if you like.  Since this room is safe, this means
  46.    the rooms above and below the room at column 1 and row 2 are trapped
  47.    and should not be entered.
  48. 14.Go west by clicking on the left arrow button. Note you have wrapped
  49.    around to the other side of the screen.  There are no trapped rooms
  50.    near this room.
  51. 15.Go south by pressing the down arrow button.  One trapped room is near
  52.    this room.
  53. 16.Go south by pressing the down arrow button.  No trapped room is near
  54.    this room.
  55. 17.Go south by pressing the down arrow button.  No trapped room is near
  56.    this room.  A sarcophagus is in this room along with a giant spider.
  57. 18.Press the Attack button to hit the spider with your sword.  The
  58.    attack button strikes the spider at with your regular chance to hit,
  59.    and with your regular damage.  The Defend button tries to strike the
  60.    monster with only 2/3 of your regular strength, but the monsters 
  61.    chance to hit you is halved.  This is good to use if the monster has
  62.    a high dexterity.
  63. 19.Fight until you kill the spider.  It is an easy monster to kill, but
  64.    do not use a grenade on it as it is overkill.  Save grenades for when
  65.    you are in trouble or for tough monsters like goblins or vampires, etc.
  66. 20.This concludes the tutorial.  Good luck.  Find the gold key and the
  67.    way down to Quenzar's sanctum and slay him.
