  59.  WHILE PLAYING THE GAME:
  60.    C  - Cycle Mode toggles ON or OFF.  Cycle Mode allows you to 
  61.         take your time and step through the game action at your
  62.         own speed, advancing only when you hit the space bar.

  65.         At the end of the current hand, you will be given the
  66.         option to quit or continue playing.

  99.  Execute program:  Double click on BJP40.EXE

  101.  All selections may be made using the mouse, keyboard arrow keys 
  102.  or joysticks.  This tutorial uses the keyboard.

  104.  When 'TABLE' screen appears, select the BLACKJACK PLUS logo 
  105.  (using arrow keys), then press Enter to access the 'GAME SETUP'
  106.  screen.
  107.  
  108.  Use arrow keys to select player #1 mode, use Enter key to change 
  109.  to MANUAL mode.  Select player #6 and set to AUTO.  Use the arrow 
  110.  keys to move to TABLE STAKE columns, then use the Enter key to
  111.  increment each column value.  Any number of players may be set up
  112.  to play the game.  Remember, in order to play, players must have 
  113.  a table stake and be set to a playing mode (not OFF).

  115.  Use arrow keys and Enter key to move to & change each any of the  
  116.  selections at the bottom of the Game Setup screen.
  117.  
  118.  Return to the 'TABLE' screen by pressing the Esc key or select 
  119.  the 'GAME SETUP' title (using arrow keys) and then press Enter.
  120.  
  121.  Select the 'DEALER' title (using arrow keys), then press Enter to
  122.  access the 'DEALER' screen.
  123.  
  124.  Set the number of hands you wish to play:  select each column by
  125.  using the arrow keys and increment by pressing the Enter key.  
  126.  You may play 1 to 999,999 hands!

  128.  Select 'START' (using arrow keys) and press Enter to begin play.

  130.  Each player that is set to the MANUAL mode will present a screen
  131.  where you specify your bet. Use the arrow keys to move to each 
  132.  column and then the Enter key to scroll values. When you have
  133.  specified the bet, use the arrow keys to move to the player #
  134.  at the top and press Enter. Players set to AUTO mode will 
  135.  automatically bet the unit bet specified on the STRATEGIES
  136.  screen (accessed from GAME SETUP screen: 'PLAYER STRATEGIES').

  138.  Play will continue until the specified amount of hands has been 
  139.  dealt (or until players do not have a stake).
  140.  You may pause play by pressing P any time during play. At the end
  141.  of the hand you are given the option to quit play or continue.

  143.  Press H to access HELP screen.

  151.  Enter the 'GAME SETUP' screen from the 'TABLE' screen by pressing
  152.  the Enter key when the 'BLACKJACK PLUS' logo is selected.

  154.  For each player:  Set desired mode and strategy (explained below)
  155.                    and a table stake (1-99999). A player must have
  156.                    at least 1 unit to play.  
  157.                    Note:  Player's stakes will roll over to 0 when
  158.                    winnings push the stake total past 99999 units.

  160.  PLAY MODES - There are four play modes. Each of the seven players
  161.  can be individually set to any one of the following play modes:
  162.  
  163.    MANUAL - Play an accurate simulation of casino blackjack.  You
  164.    decide when to Stand, Hit, Double, Split, Surrender and take
  165.    insurance.  You may select 'HINT' to get help based on the 
  166.    chosen strategy.
  167.  
  168.    AUTO - Players set to this mode will play unassisted according
  169.    to the strategy assigned to that player.  Play under the exact
  170.    conditions you will find in the casino.  Put the desired number
  171.    of players at the table with you at the position you choose!
  172.  
  173.    FEEDBACK - Use the Feedback mode to learn and practice your
  174.    strategies.  You play manually, and if you select a play or
  175.    bet that is not in agreement with the chosen strategy, you will
  176.    receive a warning message.  You will be given a chance to make
  177.    the correct play or you may override the strategy and make any
  178.    play you choose.

  180.    BACKGROUND - Background is a powerful tool, most useful as an
  181.    aid in the evaluation of different strategies, and how they
  182.    perform over the long run.  Evaluate the results of playing
  183.    blackjack using basic strategies included with this program.
  184.  
  185.   Players set to Background mode will play automatically with no 
  186.   step-by-step play shown on the screen.  When all the players
  187.   (with a stake) are set to Background, the entire game is played
  188.   without any screen action (FAST!!).  Hundreds of hands can be 
  189.   played in seconds! Extensive statistics are accumulated and may
  190.   be viewed and/or printed when play is completed.

  192.   NUMBER OF DECKS - to be used:  1 to 9.
  193.  
  194.   PENETRATION     - Dealing depth (when dealer shuffles): 0 to 99%.
  195.  
  196.   GAME SPEED      - 0 to 9 (0 is slowest speed, 9 is the fastest).

  198.   HOUSE RULES (displays the HOUSE RULES Screen) -
  199.  
  200.    SOFT 17      (HIT or STAND)  Determines dealer action.
  201.    DOUBLE DOWN  (ANY, 9 10 11, or 10 11) Hands you may double on.
  202.    AFTER SPLIT  (YES or NO)  Can you double after you split?
  203.    SURRENDER    (YES or NO)  Allows the surrender option.

  205.  PLAYER STRATEGIES (displays the PLAYER STRATEGY Screen) -
  206.  The specified strategy table is displayed on the right side of 
  207.  the screen. The settings in the table determine the action a 
  208.  player takes in every game situation. The top row represents the
  209.  dealer's up card.  The column on the left side represents the 
  210.  current total for the player's hand. The intersection of the row
  211.  & column shows what player's action should be in that situation:
  212.  
  213.     S = STAND   H = HIT   D = DOUBLE   P = SPLIT   R = SURRENDER
  214.  
  215.  The strategy table assigned (by number) to a player on the SETUP
  216.  screen will be used during play regardless of the play mode.
  217.  Two basic strategies are provided for you; one for single deck
  218.  play and one for multiple decks. 
  219.  These strategies may not be edited 
  220.  Note: The registered version allows editing and the addition of
  221.        new strategies.

  223.    NBR (1 - 7) - Number of the strategy table currently displayed.
  224.    SINGL/MULTI - Single deck strategy or Multi deck strategy.
  225.    INSURANCE   - Yes or No, may be overridden in manual play mode.
  226.    UNIT BET    - 0 to 9999 Bet made at start of session, also used
  227.                  to determine a new bet (see betting strategy below).
  228.    MAX BET     - 0 to 9999  Maximum allowed bet.

  230.  WIN/LOSE BETTING STRATEGY -  Determines the next bet based on the
  231.                               result of the last hand.

  234.                 MAX           Maximum bet, see above.

  263.   TOTALS - Set ON or OFF.  Display card totals during play?

  267.     RESET - The statistics may be reset or they will continue
  268.             to accumulate during the playing session.

  270.     VIEW  - (displays the STATISTICS Screen) - After a playing 
  271.             session you may view the accumulated statistics.

  273.     PRINT - Print the accumulated statistics for evaluation.
