- --CONFIGURATION--
- If you are installing / upgrading from
- a release version under 4.0.16, your
- settings may not be migrated!
-
- Version 4.0.16 and up, includes a version3
- to version4 conversion utility however
- not all settings required in version4
- are available in version 3.
-
- After conversion, you should re-check
- your settings.
-
- --BACKUP SETTINGS (.IPE)--
- Your .IPE files will not be compatible
- with version 4.0.
-
- --REGISTRATION KEYS--
- Your registration key will not be
- compatible. You will need to request
- and updated key.
-
- Send email to: Upgrade@ipsentry.com
- Please include your Company / Registrant
- Name and your current registration key.
- Registration information will be validated
- and you will be sent an updated registration
- key.

- The proper steps to upgrading from a previous
- version of IPSentry are as follows (v 4.0 or
- greater only!):
-
- 1. Export Settings
- From the Edit/Options menu, select
- Export Settings, and Specify a file in
- which to save your settings.
-
- 2a. If you are running IPSentry as a service,
- you must perform SRVIPSEN -uninstall to
- remove the service entry.
-
- 2b. Uninstall previous version of IPSentry via
- windows Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs.
-
- 3. Install IPSentry v 4.0.x by executing either
- the downloaded executable "IPSET41.EXE", or
- by unzipping the downloaded .ZIP file and
- running setup.exe.
-
- 4. Once complete, start IPSentry
-
- 5. Import Settings
- From the Edit/Options menu, click Import
- Settings. Select the file you previously
- used to export settings. Your machine settings
- will be imported.

- 6. Restart IPSentry
-
- CHECK ALL SETTINGS onces installed.

- How to install IPSentry 4.1 as a System Service under NT
- If you are not familiar with NT Services, ignore the following
- because you probably don't care about IPSentry running as a
- system service rather than a desktop app.
- ===============================================================

- The following steps should only be completed after you have
- properly installed and configured IPSentry. We suggest configuring
- IPSentry on the desktop BEFORE installing as a service in order
- to avoid problems due to misconfiguration.

- From the directory in which you installed IPSentry.
-
- srvipsen -install [-auto] | -uninstall
-
- Where: -install = Install IPSentry as a System Service
- -auto = Set service startup mode to Automatic
- You can change this in service settings
- from control panel.
- -uninstall = Uninstall IPSentry as a System Service
-
- You can either do a NET START SRVIPSEN from the command prompt, restart
- your system, or start the service from Services applet in Control Panel.
-
- *Note: Don't set IPSentry to interact with desktop. If you do, IPSentry
- may be stopped if you logout and log back in without a system
- restart.

- IPSET41.EXE is a self extracting setup utility. Just run it
- and follow the prompts. The defaults should suffice.

- IPSentry is a Windows NT / 95 utility that will continuously monitor all
- your internet and intranet TCP/IP services 24 hours a day, ensuring, your
- email servers, web site, ftp server, news server, and all other TCP/IP
- services are responding correctly. In the event of failure, IPSentry will
- notify you (according to the defined schedule) via all or 1 of several
- different methods.

- Before you install

- You should have TCP/IP networking protocol up and functioning before
- attempting to configure IPSentry. Obviously, without the TCP/IP stack
- available, IPSentry will NOT function properly.

- If you plan on using the Pager Alert, you must have a modem configured
- prior to IPSentry configuration. (See the MODEMS applet in the control
- panel).

- Installation

- IPSET41.EXE is a self extracting WinZip archive. If you have extracted
- all the files manually (from IPSET41.EXE), simply execute Setup.EXE,
- otherwise, execute IPSET41.EXE.
