Only CodeWallet gives you the flexibility, power, and security to get yourself organized in an instant. <hr>  <a name="start"></a> Getting Started with CodeWallet CodeWallet presents you with one of the most innovative ways to safely and securely store all of your personal and business information for easy access at any time! Main window layout From left to right across the top of the CodeWallet window, you'll find the following action menus/buttons: Note: Holding down the stylus on any of these buttons will also display a short description of it's function. You may also customize the order of these buttons. From the Tools menu, select Arrange action menus... <ul> <li>Delete DataCards/Folders Use this menu to delete any DataCard and/or DataCard folder.</li> <li>Edit/View DataCards Once you've entered all of your data, this is the menu you'll visit most often to view your DataCards.</li> <li>Add DataCards/Edit Folders To create a new DataCard and/or create or edit a folder, select this menu.</li> <li>Tools Use this menu to create/open/delete DataCard files and perform actions on the currently open DataCard, such as duplicate, delete, or close.</li> <li>Security Use this to lock/unlock the currently open file and set security options.</li> <li>Finder Need to locate one of your DataCards? The finder makes it easy.</li> <li>X (Exit CodeWallet) Simply tap the X in the upper right corner to exit CodeWallet. Any changes to the currently open DataCard will automatically be saved.</li> </ul> DataCard Organization <ul> <li>DataCards are organized into folders that you create. Each folder you create can optionally have security enabled to safely and securely encrypt your data. Access to any card within a secure folder requires that the current file be unlocked with the password you've given to the file. Once the file is unlocked, you have full access to all of your cards. </li> <li>You may store as many DataCards in any given folder as you wish. You are only limited by the amount of available resources (i.e. storage space). </li> <li>DataCard names are not unique. CodeWallet allows you to create new cards sharing the same name of existing cards.</li> </ul> DataCard Viewing CodeWallet makes editing DataCards simple by employing a WYSIWYG-(What you see is what you get) style user interface. Simply open any DataCard for viewing. You may edit any DataCard while viewing it simply by tapping on any of the available data entry fields. Example: Creating a New Folder and Adding a new DataCard. <ol> <li>Select "New DataCard folder..." from the edit menu.</li> <li>Enter a name for this new folder.</li> <li>Optionally select the most common type of DataCard that will be stored in this folder. (When you create new cards in this folder, the type you select will become the default, and may be changed at any time.)</li> <li>If you would like to secure this folder and all of the DataCards stored within it, check the "Secure all..." checkbox.</li> <li>From the edit menu, select the folder you have just created. A drop down menu will appear with the entries "Add new DataCard..." and "Folder properties...". Select "Add new DataCard" to add a card to this folder.</li> <li>In the New DataCard window, supply a name for this new DataCard. This name may be changed at any time from the Viewer/Editor.</li> <li>Select the type of DataCard you wish to create.</li> <li>Tap "OK" to create and begin editing this card. NOTE: There is no "Save" command in CodeWallet. The action of closing the application, card, or creating/opening a new card will automatically save the changes made to the card. To cancel changes to an open card, select "Cancel changes to open card" from the Tools action menu.</li> </ol>  <hr>  <a name="newfldr"></a>Creating new DataCard folders <ol> <li>From the Edit action menu (card/pen icon), select "New DataCard folder".</li> <li>Enter a name for this new folder.</li> <li>Optionally select the most common type of DataCard that will be stored in this folder. A drop down menu will appear with the entries "Add new DataCard..." and "Folder properties...". Select "Add new DataCard" to add a card to this folder.</li> <li>In the New DataCard window, supply a name for this new DataCard. This name may be changed at any time from the Viewer/Editor.</li> <li>Select the type of DataCard you wish to create. The available card forms are arranged by category. The category may not necessarily correspond with your particular use and only serves to organize the card types.</li> <li>Tap "OK" to create and begin editing this card.</li> </ol> Note: You may rename a card at any time when it is open by simply tapping the name of the card at the top of the display.  <hr>  <a name="savcrd"></a>Saving DataCards To ensure that your changes are always saved, CodeWallet automatically saves changes to the currently open DataCard when: <ul> <li>You exit the CodeWallet application.</li> <li>You lock the file (or it is locked by the AutoSecure feature) and the open card belongs to a secure folder.</li> <li>A new DataCard is created or opened for view/edit.</li> <li>The open DataCard is duplicated.</li> </ul> To cancel any changes made, select "Cancel changes to open card." from the Edit action menu.  <hr>  <a name="dupcrd"></a>Duplicating DataCards Duplication of DataCards makes it easy for you to create DataCard templates for repetitive data entry tasks and quickly duplicate them in an instant for any purpose. For example, the User Fields Form can work as a simple, but effective weekly timesheet. Create a new DataCard of this type and fill in only the data captions with the days of the week. Save it with a name like "Timesheet". Every week you simply open the card, duplicate it and use it for another week of time recording. Check Lists forms also work great for similar purposes. <ol> <li>Open the DataCard you wish to duplicate.</li> <li>From the Edit action menu (card/pen icon), select "Duplicate the open card".</li> <li>Optionally enter a new name for this DataCard.</li> <li>Select the destination folder for this DataCard (if different from the card being duplicated).</li> <li>Tap OK to begin editing this card.</li> </ol>  <hr>  <a name="viewcrd"></a>Viewing/Editing DataCards <ol> <li>To open a DataCard for viewing/editing, open the View action menu (card/eyeglasses icon)</li> <li>Select the folder...</li> <li>...then the desired card to open.</li> </ol> You may now view or begin editing the content of the DataCard.  <hr>  <a name="delcrd"></a>Deleting DataCards and folders To delete... <ul> <li>The currently open DataCard: Select "Delete this DataCard" from the Delete action menu.</li> <li>Any DataCard: From the Delete action menu, select the folder containing the DataCard to delete, then select the DataCard. You will be prompted to confirm deletion of the specified card.</li> <li>A folder and all of it's DataCards: From the Delete action menu, select the folder to delete. In the drop down menu, select "Delete this folder".</li> </ul> Please note: Deletion operations on folders and DataCards may not be undone. You will be prompted for confirmation before CodeWallet carries out these particular operations.  <hr>  <a name="export"></a>Exporting DataCard information CodeWallet offers you the option to export the information of all DataCards in the currently open file to a text-formatted file. To export your DataCard information, select Export DataCards... from the Tools action menu. If the CodeWallet file is locked, you will be prompted to unlock the file using your password. The export operation requires that the file be unlocked before continuing with this operation. Enter the name of the file to which you would like the information to be exported. Once CodeWallet has completed this operation, you may transfer the file to your desktop computer for viewing in a text editor (i.e. Notepad or WordPad). Additional Notes: For DataCards containing ink notes data, CodeWallet will export only the text entered into the ink editor and will not export the ink data as graphics. To export/import data to/from the ink notes fields and Note Taker files (including ink data) on your Palm-size PC, please see <a href="cwhelp.htm#xferink">Transferring ink notes to/from Note Taker</a>  <hr>  <a name="fldrprops"></a>Changing folder properties You may, at any time change the name of a folder, its security properties, or the default type of DataCard used within the folder. <ol> <li>From the Edit action menu, select the desired folder.</li> <li>In the drop-down menu presented, select "Folder properties...".</li> </ol> To... <ul> <li>Change the name: Simply edit the text in the "Name of Folder:" edit field. Note: You may create multiple folders of the same name if so desired.</li> <li>Set a new default DataCard type: Select the desired default type from the drop down menu.</li> <li>Change the security properties: Check/uncheck the "Secure all of my..." checkbox. Note: To alter the security options of any folder you must first unlock the file. If the file is locked, simply tap the "Unlock Now" button at the bottom of the folder properties window and you will be prompted for your password.</li> </ul>  <hr>  <a name="secure"></a>Security Features CodeWallet supports 56-bit encryption to ensure the privacy of the information contained on your DataCards that belong to secure folders. Note: Not all versions of CodeWallet support encryption. Such versions will not allow the enabling of security on card folders (i.e. the feature cannot be toggled). To ensure that your sensitive information is always protected, CodeWallet's AutoSecure feature will automatically close the application or lock your data file after a specified period of inactivity. To view/change these options, select Security Options... from the Security action menu. (lock icon). These security features are global in scope and are not linked to a specific CodeWallet data file. To activate the AutoSecure feature: <ul> <li>Check the box marked "After being inactive..."</li> <li>Enter the inactivity time (minutes) after which the AutoSecure operation will take place.</li> <li>Select either: - Lock the open DataCard file. (or) - Close CodeWallet.</li> </ul> Notes: After the specified period of inactivity... <ul> <li>If locking is selected, CodeWallet will automatically lock the DataCard file (if unlocked) and save/close the open DataCard if it belongs to a secure folder.</li> <li>If "Close CodeWallet" is selected, the DataCard file will be locked, the active card saved and the application closed.</li> </ul> Passwords: <ul> <li>Don't forget your password. Only you know the password to your data. Remember it. Without it, there is no way to view the DataCards contained in secure folders or recover such data.</li> <li>Passwords may be changed at any time.</li> <li>All DataCard files require a password for your protection, whether or not you choose to enable security on your card folders. Why? If a password is not established when the file is created, another individual with access to your device could very well result in that individual adding a password (unknown to you) to the file.</li> <li>Use a password that you'll remember, but not one that may be obvious. Mix in some numbers to reduce the chance of an unauthorized user correctly determining your password.</li> <li>To change the password, select Change Password... from the Security action menu.</li> </ul>  <hr>  <a name="pincode"></a>PIN Codes Charge/Credit/Debit Card and Calling Card DataCards allow you to safely view and edit your PIN/Access number when you tap on the key icon in the bottom right corner of the card. After approximately five seconds, the window displaying your PIN will automatically close. To keep the PIN display open for an extended period of time, tap your stylus once in the PIN edit field. To hide the PIN, tap OK or X.  <hr>  <a name="filestat"></a>Viewing file statistics To view the number of DataCards, folders, and size of the currently open DataCard file, select "File Stats..." from the tools menu.  <hr>  <a name="impimg"></a>Importing images into DataCards Create Calling,Charge,Credit, and Debit cards that have the look of your actual cards! The following DataCard types support image import: <ul> <li>Calling Card</li> <li>Charge/Credit/Debit Card</li> <li>Picture Card</li> <li>Picture Card w/Notes</li> </ul> To import an image into these DataCards, tap once in the upper-right corner of the DataCard. You will be prompted to select a bitmap file (*.bmp, *.2bp) for importing into the current DataCard. Once you have selected the file, CodeWallet will import the image data directly into the CodeWallet data file. If you desire, you may remove the image file from your device to save storage space. Notes: <ul> <li>Calling Card and Charge / Credit / Debit Card types will accept an image file up to 218 H x 84 V (pixels) and will be placed in the upper right corner of the DataCard form.</li> <li>Images for importing must be located in or within a subfolder of the \My Documents folder (or equivalent) in main memory or on a storage card.</li> <li>Use the samples provided as a guide to creating your own images.</li> <li>Search card provider websites to download images for use in CodeWallet.</li> </ul>  <hr>  <a name="xferink"></a>Transferring DataCard ink notes to/from Note Taker All of the available CodeWallet DataCard forms support the additional entry of ink and text notes. There may be times where you would like to transfer these ink notes to/from a Note Taker (*.pwi) document. It's simple! <ol> <li>Open the desired DataCard containing the ink notes.</li> <li>Tap once on the ink notes to open the ink editor.</li> </ol> To... Export the ink notes to a Note Taker document: <ul> <li>In the editor, select Tools, then Save to Note Taker file...</li> <li>Supply a file name for this ink file.</li> <li>You may now open this file using the built-in Note Taker application..</li> </ul> Import ink notes from a Note Taker document: <ul> <li>In the editor, select Tools, then Import from Note Taker file...</li> <li>Select the desired ink notes file.</li> <li>These ink notes are now available directly from your CodeWallet DataCard.</li> </ul>  <hr>  <a name="newfile"></a>Creating a new DataCard file To create additional DataCard files, select "Create new DataCard file..." from the Tools menu. You will be prompted for a file name followed by a request for a password for this new file. All DataCard files must have a user supplied password.  <hr>  <a name="openfile"></a>Opening a DataCard file When you open/launch CodeWallet, it will automatically open your previously open DataCard file. It will not automatically unlock it however. To open a different DataCard file, select Open DataCard File from the Tools action menu. The first entry in the drop-down menu will display the name of the currently open DataCard file. To select a different file to open, tap the appropriate entry on the menu. CodeWallet automatically lists all data card files (*.cwe) located on your device and any installed CompactFlash card (if present). Menu items (file names) followed by a "*" indicate that the file is located on a CompactFlash card. (i.e. mycardfile*)  <hr>  <a name="search"></a>Searching for DataCards If you need to quickly locate a DataCard, use the Finder action button (rightmost button in default order). The DataCard file must be unlocked prior to continuing with this action. Enter the text you would like to search for (the search is not case sensitive) and tap the Find It button. The results list will contain up to 20 matching card entries. To open one of the DataCards for viewing/editing, double-tap the card name or select it and tap the View Card button. This find feature searches both card titles and all user entered data including the text contained in ink notes.  <hr>  <a name="locking"></a>Locking/Unlocking the DataCard file To lock or unlock the DataCard file, select Lock (or Unlock) DataCard file from the Security action menu. (lock icon) When unlocking the DataCard file you will be prompted for the password for the currently open file.  <hr>  <a name="custmenu"></a>Customizing the order of menus You can customize the order of the action menu buttons at the top of the display by using the Arrange action menus... feature from the Tools menu. Select the menu item you wish to relocate by tapping it, then tap the up or down arrow to change its position in the list. Items listed top-to-bottom are displayed in a left-to-right order.  <hr>  <a name="filesize"></a>CodeWallet keeps your file size to a minimum CodeWallet does not require you issue a command to "compact" data files. CodeWallet was engineered to make extremely efficient use of data files, and keeps the data files at a minimum size at all times without sacrificing speed.
