- âUpgrading to v4.20 from earlier versionsâ
-
-
- 1. The printer drivers have changed. The new printer drivers have the
- suffix .PPD and are equivalent to the old .SRC files. These are used
- directly - there is no SETPRINT program to compile them.
-
- To convert an old printer driver, take the .SRC file and follow these
- steps:
-
- Change any WRITE commands to REM
- Remove any WHILE loops
- Rename the file to have the extension .PPD
-
-
- 2. PC colour monitors wysiwyg display. Bold, underlining and italics
- are shown by the use of different colours. If an old CFG file is used
- they may be invisible. The solution is simply to run CONFIG and save a
- new configuration. This action will set up colours for these
- attributes. Of course CONFIG may be used to change the colours if
- required.
-
-
- 3. A new CONVERT program is provided. This does not use the old .CVT
- files - the old CONVERT should be used if any are required - though
- all the previously supplied conversions are now built in, plus some
- new ones.
-
- 4. Macros. ALT-D (date), ALT-T (time) and ALT-F (43/50 line mode on PC
- EGA/VGA) are now defined by Protext. If these clash with user defined
- macros then these features may not be available unless the user macros
- are changed. This may be most easily done by editing the .KEY file.
- Note that SVK now automatically saves a file PROTEXT.KEY, and it is
- recommended that this is used, rather than including KEY commands in
- EXFILE.
-
- 5. PC mouse. A mouse cursor will be displayed in Protext edit mode, if
- the mouse has been installed under DOS. If this is not required CONFIG
- may be used to disable the mouse or to hide the cursor until it is
- used.
-
- 6. Quick dictionary. This is now specified with CONFIG instead of the
- unsatisfactory method of using the first qik dictionary found.
-
- 7. The new manual. One of the major improvements to the manual is the
- new index. If any feature appears to be operating differently in the
- new version please consult the index first to see if the documentation
- has been altered.
