  5.                 EnPrint 2.0 for Stylus README
  6.                 =============================

  8. Welcome to EnPrint 2.0! EnPrint is a powerful 24 bit prinitng system,
  9. with many configuration options to allow you to adjust its operation to
  10. your needs. After installing the software, we strongly recommend you
  11. read the EnPrint.guide introduction to familiarize yourself with the
  12. features and operation of the software. Users of our Epson Stylus Color
  13. Driver 1.2 will find EnPrint to be vastly changed and improved, and
  14. should also read the introduction to learn what is new and different
  15. (almost everything!)

  17. Remember to select the appropriate driver in your Workbench Printer
  18. Preferences before starting to use the software. See Epson.guide for the
  19. driver names and related information.
  20.  
  21. Besides extensive (more than 120K) documentation in AmigaGuide format,
  22. the documentation is also provided in Final Writer format. The file
  23. will be installed in your EnPrint: drawer during installation. The
  24. filename is EnPrintStylus.FW. To print with Final Writer, first set up
  25. the margins as described in the section "Final Writer/Final Copy
  26. Gotchas" under "Known Problems" in the EnPrint.guide. In addition you
  27. must set the "Paper Feed" setting in the Final Writer print requester to
  28. "Single Sheet" for correct operation. You may print the document in
  29. color, greyscale, or black and white, but since only the first page
  30. contains color, we recommend printing it in color by itself at Density
  31. #2 (assuming you have not altered the configurations that were installed
  32. by the Install program), and then for faster results printing the
  33. remaining pages in greyscale (also with Density #2). The default
  34. Density 2 configuration is 360dpi, which is quite sufficient for text
  35. documents. Plain paper is fine; you do not have to use the special
  36. coated paper. For fastest printing of this document, you should turn off
  37. graphics spooling, and may wish to turn off MicroWeave.

  43. For our users who Beta tested the driver, here is a list of changes
  44. between Beta 5 and this 2.0 release version:
  45.  
  46.         - Make EnPrint drawer look nicer after install; place
  47.           icons in reasonable positions.
  48.         - Include the TimberWolf.IFF file we use as a test picture
  49.           (It fit!)
  50.         - Include Final Writer version of documentation.
  51.         - Fix bug that caused first print from Final Writer to be messed
  52.           up. 
  53.         - Fix bug in IFFLoad for some pictures with pixel aspect 1:1
  54.           (they would sometimes be set to other aspects instead).
  55.           Also other minor changes in the output for the requester.
  56.         - Move AG documentation into the compressed install archive.
  57.         - Change install directory defaults.
  58.         - Fix minor rendering bug in ConfEd/Shade Control
  59.           under WB2.x.
  60.         - Include Manip program (was forgotten before)
  61.         - Add {file:...} special output hook.
  62.         - Add even more AG documentation (now over 120K!),
  63.           including info on paper suppliers and a list of
  64.           requirements for EnPrint.
  65.         - Install script now defaults special options to whatever they
  66.           are currently set to, or {creq} for a first-time install.
  67.         - EpsonSpecial now defaults to whatever settings are in effect.
  68.         - Better defaults for BIG_T:. Use existing assignment if
  69.           there is one, else make directory EnPrint:T and default to it.
  70.         - Add EpsonSpecial utility (installer script) for changing
  71.           special output options later after installation.
  72.         - Add acknowledgements to EnPrint.guide.
  73.         - Change IIsColor form YMC to YMCB (might help?)
  74.         - Offset dithers changed to work like Floyd-A: if YM/MC
  75.           mode is selected for color correction, offset dithers use
  76.           an alternate, hidden "YM/MC A" algorithm. Offset matrix
  77.           dithers now provide reasonable color accuracy. Like
  78.           Floyd-A, less color correction is needed.
  79.         - Good defaults created, and documented in the Epson.guide.
  80.           EnPrint2.0.IFF24 (availible on the BBS) at 720dpi microweave
  81.           looks *fantastic*!
  82.         - Index created for EnPrint.guide
  83.         - Explain more about AdPro in EnPrint.guide
  84.         - Printable area length for Stylus COLOR reduced slightly.
  85.           Old size was just slightly too large at 720dpi mode, and
  86.           could cause extra sheets to be fed through. Printable
  87.           area height is now back to 10 inches instead of 10.1222.
