  19. The Seniorita's Slave (part 01)

  21.     Consuela Navronne Patria de Managua gave birth to a girl child 
  22. in the mid-nineteenth century; her husband, Roberto Nosterre de 
  23. Managua had a fit.

  25.     The nun-midwives who had assisted at Consuela's lying in put 
  26. cotton in the young wife's ears so she would not hear her husband's 
  27. screams of despair and cries to heaven of revenge.

  29.     Old doctor Jose Eldorado put his hand on the middle-aged man's 
  30. shoulders and tried to say all the obvious things to him: that his new 
  31. wife was still young and would be able to bear him many more 
  32. children, some of whom would undoubtedly be boys, and that girls 
  33. are okay too -- after all, without girls what fun wuold men be able 
  34. to have?
