  10. A LONLEY computer Hacker caused chaos on a phenomenal scale when
  11. he Gained access to hi-tech systems all over the the world, a court
  12. heard yesterday.

  14.    During a Two-Year campaign, Paul Bedworth 19, used a 200 pound Gadget
  15. to allegedly tap into the EC Headquarters in Luxembourg, the Financial 
  16. Times, and overseas universities.
  17.    
  18.    Then he wiped out data and changed passwords so no other user could
  19. gain access, it was said.

  21.    'He did it for kicks and made Electronic friends with other hackers,'
  22. prosecuter James Richardson told Southwark Crown Court.

  24.    Bedworth of Ilkly, West Yorkshire, appeared in court with his 
  25. 'Electronic Friends' Karl Strickland 22, and 26-Year old Neil Woods.

  27.    ALL face charges under the Computer Misuse Act. Bedworth denies the

  35. Computer pest Paul Bedworth wired up his own secret phone line to hack
  36. into systems around the world, a court heard yesterday.
  37.  
  38.    Bedworth 19, had been banned by his mum from running up bills on
  39. the family phone. But he soldered a hidden wire into the BT socket
  40. and ran it under the carpet to his own 200 pound computer in his 
  41. bedroom. He hacked into the computer systems of Universities, the
  42. Financial Times and even Lloyds Bank, Said prosicuter James Richardson
  43.  
  44.    During one six-hour hacking session from 11pm to 5am Bedworth
  45. raided systems in France, Germany and Luxembourg.

  47.    In two months Bedworths illicit calls logged up a Telecom bill 34
  48. pages long, Southwark Crown Court, South London, was told.
  49.  
  50.    But the youth cleverly used a password to switch most of the bill
  51. to someone else - an inocent user at Manchester University, it was
  52. alleged.

  54.    He was arrested after another university put a trace on him.
  55.  
  56.    Bedworth, of likley, Yorks, denies three dishonesty charges and
  57. the case goes on.
