  5. To the best of our knowledge  this magazine was circulated 100% virus
  6. free. However, if you have copied  this  off a friend, or received it
  7. from a PD library make  sure  you  keep  the  disks write protected -
  8. there is no need for any of the software to write to the disks. Write
  9. protect the disk BEFORE you first boot it to be safe.
  10.  
  11. Since this issue sees The Final  Frontier  making  use of a brand new
  12. menu system and disk structure,  we  felt  that it was worth updating
  13. this information.
  14.  
  15. All of the four disks should be free of boot-block viruses. Please do
  16. not install a new bootblock on the disk (especially do NOT do this if
  17. you have Kickstart 2 or  3  -  the  bootblocks  won't work with older
  18. Amigas!), just send the disk back. This offer is open to ALL readers,
  19. whether you bought the mag from  us  or  not. However, we do ask that
  20. you tell us where  you got  the  disk  from and whether the bootblock
  21. was missing since you  first got  it.  Please  note that on the first
  22. two issues, the custom  bootblock will  NOT  appear on the Amiga 500+
  23. or other Amigas fitted  with  Kickstart  2.04  or  higher if you have
  24. extra memory fitted.

  26. Also, unlike our first Issue, there  IS  an "L" directory on disk one
  27. (we have removed it from  disks  2-4  because  under the LCARS system
  28. there is no longer a need  for  a  disk validator file on every disk,
  29. saving 3K per disk!) and it contains  a number of files essential for
  30. the smooth operation of  the  menu  system  including the Ram-Handler
  31. and a Disk-Validator file. As well  as this, before we despatched the
  32. disks, they were all tested for  file,  bootblock, and disk validator
  33. viruses with the LATEST version of John  Veldhuis's Virus Checker, so
  34. the system should be clear.

  36. If you bought this mag from a  PD  library and found that a virus was
  37. on it, let us know  so  we  can  try  and  stop other readers getting
  38. unwanted virus problems. However,  most  good  PD Libraries make sure
  39. that their collections are free of all known viruses.

  41. We will re-check our own master copy of  the disk and we will get the
  42. library in question to  check  their  copy  of  the  mag, and if they
  43. discover a virus, to make sure it is removed immediately.
