- The following are steps that can help you use Picture Postcard
- software.<BR>

- <H3><A NAME="WInstallStart"></A>1. Installing and Starting Picture
- Postcard Software </H3>
-
- <P>
- <B>To install</B> Picture Postcard after you download it form
- the World Wide Web, select Start - Run and type a:\setup. Follow
- the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.<BR>
- <BR>
- <B>To start</B> Picture Postcard software, select Start - Program
- - KODAK Digital Science Picture Postcard Software - Postcard.
- <BR>
- <BR>
- The first time you run Picture Postcard software, the License
- Agreement appears. If you accept the terms in the agreement by
- clicking Accept, Picture Postcard software starts. <BR>
- <BR>

- <H3><A NAME="WSetPreferences"></A>2. Setting Options</H3>
-
- <P>
- The first time you run Picture Postcard software, a window appears
- in which you specify the email system you are using and your email
- address. Click the Email Service tab and select the email service
- you are using. Click the Address tab and type your email address.
- (You can later change these settings by selecting Mail - Options.)
- If you select s specific email system, the postcard is sent directly
- to the outbox of that system. If you select Other Mail system,
- you must manually attach the picture as an enclosed file. For
- more information, see <A HREF="WinTips.htm">Tips and Techniques.</A>

- <BR>
- If you plan to have the KODAK DC20 camera connected to the computer,
- you also want to set camera options by selecting Camera - Options.
- In the window that appears, you can select the COM port to which
- the camera is connected and the connection speed for the modem.
- Unless you have a computer setup with specific requirements, leave
- both settings on auto-detect.<BR>

- <H3><A NAME="WGettingPicture"></A>3. Getting a Picture on the
- Postcard (The Fun Begins) </H3>
-
- <P>
- When you first start Picture Postcard software, you will see a
- blank Postcard, to which you can add a picture and text. You can
- use pictures you captured with the KODAK DC 20 Camera or a .BMP
- or .JPG file that is stored on a disk.<BR>
- <BR>
- To use a picture directly from the DC 20 camera:
- <OL>
- <LI>Connect the camera to the computer according to the instructions
- in the camera manual.
- <LI>Select Camera - View All Pictures. The Select Photograph window
- appears.
- <LI>Click the picture side of the postcard to bring that side
- to the front.
- <LI>Do one of the following: Drag the picture you want from the
- Select Photograph window onto the postcard, or double-click the
- picture you want. The picture opens into the postcard.
- </OL>

- To use a picture that is stored on a disk, double-click the .BMP
- or .JPG file. The file opens into a postcard.<BR>

- <H3><A NAME="anchor359564"></A>4. Adding a Message to the Postcard

- To add a message to the postcard:
- <OL>
- <LI>Click the message side of the postcard to bring that side
- to the front.
- <LI>Click in each area of the Message side and begin typing in
- that area:

- <LI>To. Type the email address of the person to whom you are sending
- the postcard. You can type more than one address - just separate
- the addresses with a comma and a space. (For example: Tim@kodak.com,
- Amy@kodak.com)
- <LI>Your Subject Here Type a brief content summary.
- <LI>Your Message Here. Type a message. This area scrolls if your
- message exceeds the area that is displayed. <BR>

- <H3><A NAME="anchor893084"></A>5. Storing Postcards Temporarily
- </H3>

- The outbox is a storage place for finished postcards that you
- have not yet mailed. The outbox is convenient when you are preparing
- a group of postcards and would prefer to connect once to the email
- service.<BR>
- <BR>
- When you are finished preparing a postcard, select Mail - Put
- in Outbox, or click the Put in Outbox icon in the toolbox (the
- third icon from the top).<BR>
- <BR>

- <H3><A NAME="anchor682595"></A>6. Sending a Picture Postcard</H3>

- To send one or more postcards:
- <OL>
- <LI>Click the Open Outbox icon in the toolbox (fourth icon from
- the top). A window opens with icons of the postcards in the Outbox.
- (You can double-click a postcard icon to open and edit it from
- the outbox.)
- <LI>Click the Send icon (the little envelope with wings) in the
- Outbox window.

- The postcard is passed to the mailing system that you specified
- in Mail - Options. <BR>

- <H3><A NAME="anchor688931"></A>7. Receiving and Viewing a Picture
- Postcard </H3>

- You'll recognize a picture postcard when it arrives on your system
- because the file will end in .KIZ. (If it doesn't end in .KIZ,
- you'll have to rename it before you can open the postcard with
- Picture Postcard software.)<BR>
- <BR>
- To read a picture postcard, start Picture Postcard and double-click
- the .KIZ file, or select File - Open, and select the .KIZ file
- you want.<BR>

- <H3><A NAME="anchor799205"></A>Using the Toolbox </H3>

- The toolbox has icons that represent some of the menu commands.
- To use the toolbox, click an icon to activate the function it
- represents. From top to bottom, here's a summary of the icons
- on the toolbox <BR>

- <LI>Camera icon - displays all the pictures in your KODAK DC20
- camera on the screen.
- <LI>Rotate icon - Rotates the pictures 90 degrees clockwise.
- <LI>Put in Outbox icon - Stores the Picture Postcard in the Outbox.
- <LI>Process Outbox icon - Displays a window with the contents
- of the Outbox. You can edit each postcard from the Outbox and
- send the group of postcards from this window. <BR>

- <H3><A NAME="anchor859092"></A>Using Pictures With Other Software
- </H3>

- Picture Postcard lets you use your pictures in other applications.
- You can save the picture by selecting File - Save As and choosing
- .JPG or .BMP for the file type. This provides you with a quick
- and easy way to use your pictures in applications such as Web
- software and word processors. <BR>

- </H3>

- The following is a list of menus and commands that pertain to
- Picture Postcard software: <BR>
- <BR>
- <BR>
- <B>File Menu</B> <BR>
- New - opens a blank postcard <BR>
- Open ... - opens a .JPG, .BMP, or .KIZ file as a postcard. <BR>
- Close - closes the current postcard and provides an opportunity
- to save the postcard. <BR>
- Save As... - saves the current postcard, and provides an opportunity
- to save the only the picture. <BR>
- Print ... - prints the current postcard <BR>
- Print Preview - shows how the postcard will appear when printed
- using your Web browser. <BR>
- Print Setup - allows you to set printing options <BR>
- Send - sends the postcard as electronic mail <BR>
- Exit - ends the current session of Picture Postcard software
- <BR>

- <B>Edit Menu</B> <BR>
- Undo - reverses last edit<BR>
- Cut - cuts text or picture, depending on what is selected <BR>
- Copy - copies text or picture, depending on what is selected

- Paste - pastes text or picture, depending on what is selected

- <B>View Menu</B> <BR>
- Toolbox - shows or hides the Toolbox <BR>
