- Icon.EXE has a good collection of icons (it was formally ICON.DLL). When you
- get Windows 3.0 you get a collection of icons in the PROGMAN.EXE file.
- ICON.EXE is a supplement to those icons. Unfortunately, I didn't get a doc
- file when I originally got the program, so I don't know who deserves credit
- for this or how the icons were actually created (I suspect with the windows
- SDK, and not IconDR.EXE)
-
- HOW TO CHANGE ICONS USING ICON.EXE:
-
- Copy Icon.EXE into your windows subdirectory.
-
- Start Windows and click (once) on a file whose icon you want to change.
- Then select 'Properties' from the file menu. Choose 'Change Icon'. The
- next dialog box that appears will have PROGMAN.EXE in one of the edit boxes.
- Change this to ICON.EXE. Now you can see all of the icons in this collection
- by scrolling with the 'View Next' button. When you see the one you want,
- the OK or 'Change Icon' button (I'm writing this from memory, so I don't
- remember the actual label of the button). That's all there is to it.
