- Launch is the popular utility which lets you start programs directly from the
- Windows desktop without having to go through Program Manager. Your favorite
- programs are only one mouse click away!
-
- Installation is a snap- just copy Launch to your hard disk. Launch will
- create a default menu the first time it runs. You can install Launch in your
- WIN.INI or SYSTEM.INI so it will load automatically. The online help contains
- more detailed instructions.
-
- Once Launch is installed just click the left mouse button once over the empty
- desktop. Your Launch menu will pop up automatically.
-
- Please feel free to distribute Launch to others. Just be careful and remember
- to include all three files (LAUNCH.EXE, LAUNCH.TXT and LAUNCH.INV) together.
-
- Launch is ShareWare. Please support my efforts and the efforts of all
- ShareWare authors. The cost is only $29.95 (4,000 yen in Japan). A form is
- available to print in the file LAUNCH.INV. When you mail your registration
- you will receive the latest 1.X version of Launch and a registration number
- (which will disable the reminder message which appears when Launch is
- started). Your registration will be valid for any minor upgrades. Support is
- available for registered users via CompuServe, MCI Mail or regular mail.

-
- Upgrade information
- -------------------
- If you are upgrading from a version of Launch earlier than 1.4 then you must
- delete (or rename) your old LAUNCH.INI to let Launch build a new INI file for
- you. The reason is the file format changed from 1.3 to 1.4 and a
- misformatted INI file will only confuse Launch.
-
-
- Changes to 1.81
- ---------------
- 1.81 is a maintenance release.
-
- A bug where (Arrange) performed the same function as (Cascade) has been fixed.
-
- Some programs were sending bogus keystroke messages through Windows which
- could pop up the Launch menu (only if the hotkey was not defined). I added a
- work-around for this.
-
- Double-clicking on the Launch icon no longer brings up help.
-
- Further optimization of Launch's code size.
-
-
- Changes to 1.8
- --------------
- There are many enhancements in this upgrade so please read the online help
- even if you are familiar with earlier versions of Launch. You will get the
- most out of Launch this way.
-
- Added hotkey support! You can now pop up the Launch menu with a hotkey.
- The hotkey is defined in the [Launch] section of LAUNCH.INI. For example:
-
- Hotkey=CTRL ALT L
-
- Added support for launching programs as maximized or minimized (iconized).
- You can even specify the exact screen location.
-
- Added [Startup] for better control over loading programs.
-
- Shortened (ExitWindows), (TileWindows), (CascadeWindows) and (ArrangeIcons)
- to (ExitWin), (Tile), (Cascade) and (Arrange).
-
- Added (ExitWin2) for people who want to get out of Windows without a prompt.
-
- Many hours of work went into optimizing memory usage in this release.
- Launch 1.8 adds a lot of new features but uses less RAM than 1.7!
-
-
- Changes to 1.7
- --------------
- Launch 1.7 adds the much-requested support of having the LAUNCH.INI file in
- the same directory as LAUNCH.EXE. Previously you had to put this file in the
- Windows directory.
-
- Improved shell support.
-
- Added memory and system resource statistics to the About box.
-
- Separated About box from Reminder box so that unregistered people could get
- the memory and system resources information.
-
- Added support to change directories before starting a program.
