  1.               Changed distribution method of VIRSCAN.DAT

  3. Beginning Februari 20, 1992, we will use a new method of distribution
  4. for the VIRSCAN.DAT virus signature file.  As of that date, the
  5. distribution archive will be named VSIGYY##.ZIP, where YY is the last
  6. two digits of the current year and ## is the sequence number.  The
  7. distribution archive will also include AVR modules, which are used to
  8. detect self encrypting viruses.

  10. We plan to release a monthly update of the distribution archive around
  11. the 20th of every month.

  13. Emergency updates will be distributed in case a rapidly spreading virus
  14. is discovered. Emergency updates will be distributed as ASIGYY##.ZIP
  15. (the "A" means Additional) and will contain a file named ADDNSIGS.DAT.
  16. This file will have a rather short life, all emergency updates will be
  17. moved over to VIRSCAN.DAT in the next monthly release.
  18. The upcoming release of TBSCAN, TBSCANX and HTSCAN will automatically
  19. detect and use ADDNSIGS.DAT. Emergency updates will be released if they
  20. aree needed, beginning February 20, 1992.

  23. signature file.
