  3.                       DESCRIPTION & FEATURES
  4.      VDS (Virus Detection System) is an anti-viral software package
  5. designed to contain the spread of computer viruses by providing
  6. early detection and quick recovery.  What distinguishes VDS from
  7. other anti-viral products is that its operation is based on
  8. analyzing viral behavior rather than just looking for known byte
  9. sequences extracted from virus samples.  Therefore, VDS does not
  10. require frequent upgrades.
  11.      VDS uses a proprietary triple-pass verification technique to
  12. catch the most evasive "stealth" viruses even when they are active
  13. in memory.  Coupled with its blazing operational speed (thanks to
  14. its optimized internal cache), VDS represents the strongest
  15. software solution currently available.
  16.      VDS (registered only) generates a customized device driver 
  17. during installation.  The device driver barely adds three seconds 
  18. to bootup time and catches all system infectors with ease.  It 
  19. recovers vital system areas automatically.  The user is given an 
  20. opportunity to embed his own message inside the device driver.  This 
  21. message is displayed if a possible infection is detected.  Businesses 
  22. will find this feature very useful since it can be used to prompt users 
  23. to report any incidents as instructed by the message. 
  24.      A unique feature of VDS is its decoy launching mechanism.  The
  25. decoys are used to lure any viruses active in memory and to capture
  26. them in a POV (Prisoner Of VDS) file for examination.  The captured
  27. intruders can speed up diagnosis process since you will know which
  28. virus you are dealing with or whether it is a new virus.
  29.      VDS documentation rivals many books on computer viruses not
  30. only by its readability but also by its technical content.  It
  31. offers practical guidelines and a risk analysis test designed to

  40. trial, personal, academic, charity, business and complimentary.  Trial 
  41. version is only $7 and can be ordered directly from the developers.  
  42. It is also available on several BBSes and can be downloaded for free. 
  43. Everyone is encouraged to upload the trial version of VDS to BBSes in 
  44. their area, as long as the complete package with this message and 
  45. documentation is uploaded.
  46.      Personal version sells for $25 and can be used on as many computers as 
  47. the user personally owns.  If the user chooses to become a registered 
  48. user after ordering the trial version, the $7 is credited towards the
  49. payment for the personal version.  Site-licenses for businesses can
  50. be negotiated.  Business version allows all employees of a company
  51. to use VDS on their home computers at no extra charge.
  52.      System Requirements:  IBM PC/XT/AT/PS2 or compatible computer
  53. with 256K RAM, MS/PC-DOS 3.0 or higher, a hard drive and a floppy
  54. diskette drive.
