  9. All programmes have changed internally to improve overall performance
  10. in a multi-tasking environment such as Windows 3.  They also take
  11. advantage of information provided to programmes by DOS 5.  They detect
  12. the presence of the ThunderByte anti-virus hardware card and adjust
  13. their behaviour in two ways if ThunderByte is active:
  14.  
  15.         *   The anti-viral self-test is 92% faster.
  16.         *   The programmes work as a fully registered version even without 
  17.             supplying the normal password.
  18.  
  19. The following operational changes have been implemented:
  20.  
  21. NBY: 
  22.      *  ALL boot-sector viruses damage floppy disks in some way or 
  23.         another (they must store the original bootup information
  24.         somewhere on disk and can thus overwrite existing information).
  25.         For that reason, NBY will now simply eliminate any bootsector
  26.         virus found on any floppy disk by re-writing the bootsector
  27.         from scratch.  If the diskette was a bootable DOS disk, DOS
  28.         will no longer load from if booting from the previously infected
  29.         disk. You should NEVER have a non-writeprotected DOS boot disk !
  30.         The advantage of this is two-fold: NBY can eliminate the boot-
  31.         sector virus even if it has been hacked by someone and has changed
  32.         it's expected behaviour.  All previously infected disks become
  33.         bootable disks, as if they had been treated with BootPast.
  34.  
  35.      *  After scanning a floppy disk, NBY now gives you the option to
  36.         scan another disk, allowing you to edit the command line. On
  37.         hard disk scanning, you can call up this option by going say:
  38.            'NBY C:*.com c:*.exe /m<Enter>'  (/m for 'More')
  39.  
  40.      *  A bug which did not check boot sectors on floppies if the
  41.         system had no hard disk at all has been removed.
  42.  
  43.      *  Users who have ThunderByte installed will note that the systems
  44.         files (io.sys, msdos.sys, command.com or equivalent) are only
  45.         scanned once a day.  However, if ThunderByte has been disabled,
  46.         it will scan those files on every bootup.  This is due to the
  47.         supreme protection derived from the antivirus hardware card and
  48.         it really is not necessary to check those files in every bootup.
  49.  
  50.      *  Users who have ThunderByte installed are given a message to
  51.         ignore the ThunderByte warning message when NBY is eliminating
  52.         a floppy boot-sector virus.
  53.  
  54. FASTNBY:
  55.      *  Changes to file-sharing for network / multitasking environment
  56.  
  57.      *  An external data file allowing users to nominate additional
  58.         extensions to be scanned. '.LIB', '.OVR' etc. are now specified
  59.         in that data file so users can disable the scanning for them.
  60.  
  61. CCD:
  62.      *  CCD now saves the 'previous' directory information on every
  63.         run, thus 'CCD /P' will always return to the previous directory.
  64.  
  65. TODAY:
  66.      *  Today now allows the setting of the MASTER environment from
  67.         the data file.  'Set X=ABC' set the environment variable X only
  68.         for the duration of the run of Today, ':Set X=ABC' will set
  69.         X into the master environment, i.e. it will still be set when 
  70.         today has completed.
  71.  
  72. TCT:
  73.      *  Following numerous requests to stop the whistle from TCTON and/or
  74.         TCTOFF, the two programmes will whistle only if a parameter is given.  
  75.         i.e.:
  76.  
  77.            'TCTON<Enter>'   = silent
  78.            'TCTON x<Enter>' = whistle
  79.            'TCTOFF<Enter>'  = silent
  80.            'TCTOFF x<Enter>'= whistle
  81.  
  82.      *  TCT.COM has been compacted and now takes about 75 bytes less
  83.         RAM.  It can be loaded high in DOS 5 (LoadHigh TCT) or QEMM
  84.         without problems.
  85.  
  86. DL:
  87.      *  DL has 3 new commands. (dl /? to get a listing of commands)
  88.         - /l   list mode, only shows file name, intended for redirection
  89.                into a file.
  90.         - /lp  list mode, shows file and pathname name.
  91.         - /~   NOT (e.g:  'dl /~e<Enter>'  shows all non-executable files.
  92.  
  93. LAZYBACK:
  94.      *  'Lazyback /mark<Enter>' will mark all files in the current data-
  95.         file as backed up already.
  96.  
  97. BOOTPAST:
  98.      *  Now Fully re-constructs the entire bootsector which could have
  99.         been destroyed by a virus. 
  100.  
  101.      *  Now works on all computers.  On some clones, the bootstrap
  102.         loader is non-standard and a disk treated with BootPast would
  103.         display the message and scroll continuously.  On those PCs,
  104.         the message will now be displayed once only and then lock up.
  105.  
  106. AUTOEDIT:
  107.      *  Now allows customisation of editor to use, i.e. you can use   
  108.         your own editor (in which case you lose the context-sensitive
  109.         help)
