  16.     1.   "Bad CRC: Code corrupted ─ Aborting..."
  17.     A failure of 32-bit cyclical redundancy check was encountered when VIz was
  18.     executed.

  21.     2.   "Cannot execute 286+ code ─ Aborting..."
  22.     286+ versions of VIz cannot be executed in 8088, 8086, or (most) 80186 CPU
  23.     machines.

  26.     3.   "Cannot execute 386+ code ─ Aborting..."
  27.     386+ versions of VIz cannot be executed in 8088, 8086, 80186, or 80286 CPU
  28.     machines.

  31.     4.   "Needs DOS 2.0 or higher ─ Aborting..."
  32.     The program requires an MS-DOS/IBM-PC DOS version equal to or greater than
  33.     2.10 for proper execution.

  37.     VIz was unable to determine the active video adapter and, thus, is unable
  38.     to mediate video acceleration services.  Execution is cancelled.

  42.     VIz was successfully executed and the resident(s) installed.

  47.     During installation with switch /A selected, interrupt 29h was found to be
  48.     pointing to a device (or a resident mimicking a device) with the name CON.
  49.     Since such a device is likely to be ANSI.SYS (or an ANSI-like utility) the
  50.     resident ANSI filter of VIz is not installed; to force installation of the
  51.     ANSI filter, uninstall VIz and reinstall with switch /A+.

  54.     8.   "Updated -- Enter 'VIz ?' for Status"
  55.     The relevant resident parameters of VIz were successfuly updated.

  58.     9.   "Not enough memory to restore video contents"

  60.     When switch /C?, /?H, or /? is selected, VIz attempts to allocate via DOS
  61.     an additional 4500 bytes for video processing.  This message is displayed
  62.     if enough memory is not available (other functions can still be executed).

  85.     current video font was requested.  The CGA supports four 80x25 text pages
  86.     (0-3). The EGA, MCGA, and VGA support eight 80x25 pages (0-7), or 4 pages
  87.     when 80x43 (EGA), 80x40 (MCGA), or 80x50 (VGA) font displays are used.

  91.     A video page (4 through 7) incompatible with the video font was requested

  105.     A video mode incompatible with the (active) video adapter was requested.

  147.     DOS did not deallocate the lower-memory block allocated to the resident
  148.     at the time of installation.  One of two error codes may be expected:

  150.           7 - Memory blocks above the DOS area trashed.
  151.           9 - Invalid block request.

  153.     These errors indicate a corruption of the memory control chain of the
  154.     operating system.  Reboot machine as soon as possible.

  157.     26.  "Failed to detect presence of an XMS manager (XMM)"
  158.     The program failed to determine presence of a driver compatible with the
  159.     Extended Memory Specification (XMS) version 2+, and the requested upper-
  160.     memory load (/H) defaulted to a normal, lower-memory installation.

  163.     27.  "Failed to allocate upper-memory block [XMS error ??h]"
  164.     The XMS manager did not allocate the requested UMB; one of the following
  165.     XMS error codes may be expected:

  167.           80h - Function is not implemented.
  168.           8Eh - General driver error occurred.
  169.           8Fh - Unrecoverable driver error occurred.
  170.           B0h - Smaller UMB is available.
  171.           B1h - No UMBs are available.
  172.           B2h - UMB segment number is invalid.

  175.     28.  "Failed to allocate upper-memory block [DOS error ??h]"
  176.     DOS 5.0 did not allocate the requested UMB; one of the following error
  177.     codes may be expected:

  179.           7 - Memory blocks above the DOS area trashed.

  182.     Error 7 indicates corruption of the memory control chain of DOS; reboot
  183.     immediately. Error 8 indicates that UMBs are not available; install the
  184.     program in low memory.

  188.     Failed to restore the default DOS memory allocation strategy after the
  189.     program changed it for UMB allocation.  Reboot immediately.

  204.     address specified by switch /Hn.  Resident was installed at a lower UMB

  209.     Failed to create/update the requested environment variable. Three error
  210.     codes are possible:

  212.                1: Not enough room in the global environment block.
  213.                2: Null terminator for environment block not found.
  214.                3: Null size environment block.
  215.  
  216.     Error 1 may be due to a small DOS environment block, while errors 2 and
  217.     3 indicate corruption of this block.

  220.     34.  "DOS loaded high (HMA) - Switch /E ignored"
  221.     Failed to create/update the requested environment variable when DOS 5.0
  222.     was installed in the High Memory Area.  The error may be due to a small
  223.     DOS environment block, or an undocumented DOS change. If an increase of
  224.     the environment size does not help, please contact the program vendor.
