  1. Windows and Excel COMM.DRV Replacement
  2.  
  3. The following instructions apply to the installation of the COMM.DRV 
  4. file for Windows/286, Windows/386 and Excel version 2.10.  You must 
  5. follow this procedure if you are running on an IBM PS/2 Model 50Z.  
  6. This procedure is also necessary for all other computers if the
  7. COMM.DRV file of your Windows or Excel package is dated 9/7/88 OR 
  8. is 4484 bytes in size.  The original COMM.DRV file can be found on 
  9. the disk indicated by the table below.

  16. Installation Instructions:

  18. 1) Make an exact copy of the disk containing the COMM.DRV file and 
  19. place the original disk away for safekeeping.  This can be done with 
  20. the standard DOS DISKCOPY command. 
  21.  
  22. 2) Copy the COMM.DRV file included with these instructions to the 
  23. backup disk created in step 1.
  24.  
  25. 3) If you currently have Windows or Excel loaded on the hard drive, 
  26. please delete it from the system.  If the product you have is Excel, 
  27. you will also need to delete the files in the EXCELCBT subdirectory 
  28. before reinstalling Excel.  Note: If there are any files that you do 
  29. not wish to lose, you will want to back them up to another directory
  30. or to floppy before deleting any files from the hard drive.

  32. 4) Run the setup procedure using the modified disk created in 
  33. steps 1 and 2 above.

  35. Windows or Excel has now been installed with the appropriate 
  36. COMM.DRV file.
