  4. Some changes from Version 2.43 include:
  5.  
  6. 1) It's written in a different language.
  7.  
  8. 2) Listings may be sorted by Name, Extension, Date, Original size, Packed
  9.    size, compression Ratio, or left Unsorted.  Appending a hyphen ('-') to
  10.    the appropriate switch (SN, SE, SD, SO, SP, SR) reverses the sort order
  11.    from ascending to descending.

  13. 3) The program no longer searches your path for RV.CFG.  If not in the
  14.    current directory when RView is loaded, then any (optional) RV.CFG should
  15.    be placed in the same directory as RV.EXE (DOS 3.0 and higher).

  17. 4) The contents of RV.CFG should be a bit more structured, i.e. should
  18.    resemble command-line arguments more.
  19.  
  20. 5) The -I switch now signifies that RV.CFG should be ignored.
  21.  
  22. 6) The meaning of the /A switch has completely changed.  The functionality
  23.    of the previous /A is available by combining switches either on the
  24.    command line, or in RV.CFG.
  25.  
  26. 7) The /L switch has been discontinued.
  27.  
  28. 8) The /N switch has been discontinued.  The equivalent new switch is /SU.
  29.  
  30. 9) A new /Q switch suppresses listings completely.

  32. Although it should make little difference from the *user's* point of view,
  33. rewriting in a different language ultimately will make it easier for me from
  34. a program-maintenance standpoint.  [The program uses a common "library" of
  35. routines shared with other programs I've written, including a scrollable
  36. version of RView I've been toying around with (and shelving) off-and-on for
  37. some time now.]
