  11.                This file provides a quick summary of the features of
  12.           PALRUN, including a description of how to order it.

  14.                If you are placing the shareware version of PALRUN on a com-
  15.           puter bulletin board, you might like to upload this file
  16.           separately so that callers can download it to get an idea of
  17.           PALRUN before committing themselves to the lengthy download
  18.           required for the program files and documentation.

  22.                PALRUN is many things.  It is an archive manager, a DOS
  23.           shell, an enhanced DOS command line, a DOS "replacement," a
  24.           menuing system, and more.

  26.                What's new in version 2.0?  Although we released a version
  27.           1.0 of PALRUN back in October, 1989, version 2.0 is such a
  28.           radically new program that to indicate what has changed between
  29.           versions would almost be tantamount to repeating the entire
  30.           description of version 2.0.

  32.                PALRUN is being distributed as shareware, which allows you
  33.           to try before you buy.  If you wind up using PALRUN, you are
  34.           required to register and pay for it.

  37.           3.   Some Significant Features of PALRUN

  39.                Among other things, Palrun will let you:

  41.                     *    Run executable files from within archives or from
  42.                          a subdirectory

  44.                     *    Edit or view files from within archives or
  45.                          subdirectories using your favorite editor and file
  46.                          viewer

  48.                     *    Delete files from an archive or subdirectory

  50.                     *    Inspect the contents of archives and
  51.                          subdirectories

  53.                     *    Save many megs of space on your hard disk by
  54.                          placing your programs into a "Palhouse," which is
  55.                          a designated archive from which Palrun can run

  62.                          either from a visible pick list, or by typing a
  63.                          few keystrokes and asking Palrun to fill in the

  88.                The shareware version of PALRUN is being distributed through
  89.           BBS's, user groups, and person to person.  The file name for the
  90.           distribution archive is:

  94.                The latest version of these files will always be available
  95.           from the PAL Software NY bulletin board, at telephone number 914-
  96.           762-8055.  This BBS operates 24 hours a day, at 300, 1200, 2400
  97.           and 9600 (USRobotics) baud.

  100.           5.   Registering PALRUN
  101.  
  102.                Persons who try PALRUN, like it and intend to continue using
  103.           it are required to register and pay for it.  Paid, registered
  104.           users receive a special password which disables the registration
  105.           encouragement screens that PALRUN presents to unregegistered
  106.           users.  The registered version is identical to the current
  107.           shareware version but for the registration encouragements.

  116.                The cost of registration is $25.  This entitles you to your
  117.           password, among other things, as described in PALRUN.DOC.  If you
  118.           would like to receive printed documentation and/or a distribution
  119.           disk from us, the pricing is described in the file ORDER.FRM.

  121.                To register PALRUN, take the file named ORDER.FRM and either
  122.           send it to your printer to fill it out in pen and ink, or else
  123.           bring it in to your favorite word processor or editor and fill it
  124.           out there before printing it.  The ORDER.FRM file contains all
  125.           pricing information.
