  11.                This file provides a quick summary of the features of PAL,
  12.           including a description of how to order it.

  14.                If you are placing the shareware version of PAL on a com-
  15.           puter bulletin board, you might like to upload this file
  16.           separately so that callers can download it to get an idea of PAL
  17.           before committing themselves to the lengthy download required for
  18.           the program files and documentation.

  20.           2.   Summary

  22.                PAL is the Personal Appointment Locator that radically
  23.           improves your ability to manage your time.
  24.  
  25.                The most significant improvement in version 2.1 of PAL is
  26.           that alarms can now initiate an event on your computer, using an
  27.           "invisible hand" to feed keystrokes to DOS or an application
  28.           program as if you were right there when the alarm sounds, even
  29.           though you may be continents away at the moment.  For details on
  30.           all changes between version 2.1 and 2.0, see the file
  31.           WHATSNEW.PAL.

  33.                People who use SideKick can use PAL to read appointments
  34.           created with that program.  SideKick is not required for the
  35.           operation of PAL.

  37.                PAL is being distributed as shareware, which allows you to
  38.           try before you buy.  If you wind up using PAL, you are required
  39.           to register and pay for it.

  42.           3.   Some Significant Features of PAL

  46.                *    show a report of your coming appointments for the next
  47.                     "n" days.

  49.                *    search for a particular appointment,

  51.                *    maintain a to-do list which will tickle you if you fail
  52.                     to do something after a specified date,

  54.                *    set a virtually infinite number of alarms,

  59.                *    make any alarm into a timed event, initiating a series
  60.                     of keystrokes to be entered into DOS or an application
  61.                     program, even in your absence,

  66.                     flexibility; e.g., every third Wednesday of each month
  67.                     beginning this month and continuing for a total of nine

  88.                The shareware version of PAL is being distributed through
  89.           BBS's, user groups, and person to person.  The file name for the

  95.           from the PAL Software NY bulletin board, at telephone number 914-
  96.           762-8055.  This BBS operates 24 hours a day, at 300, 1200, 2400
  97.           and 9600 (USRobotics) baud.

  100.           5.   Registering PAL

  102.                Persons who try PAL, like it and intend to continue using it
  103.           are required to register and pay for it.  Paid, registered users
  104.           receive a special password which disables the registration
  105.           encouragement screens that PAL presents to unregegistered users.
  106.           The registered version is identical to the current shareware
  107.           version but for the registration encouragements.

  114.                The cost of registration is $35.  This entitles you to your
  115.           password, among other things, as described in PAL.DOC.  If you
  116.           would like to receive printed documentation and/or a distribution
  117.           disk from us, the pricing is described in the file ORDER.FRM.

  119.                To register PAL, take the file named ORDER.FRM and either
  120.           send it to your printer to fill it out in pen and ink, or else
  121.           bring it in to your favorite word processor or editor and fill it
  122.           out there before printing it.  The ORDER.FRM file contains all
  123.           pricing information.
