-
-
- 1. Read the MacroAde.doc and Disclaim.er files distributed with this
- macro.
-
- 2. Requires: WordPerfect 5.1
-
- 3. Features:
-
- Have you run out of keys to use with ALT-invoked macros yet? I had,
- so I wrote this really simple, short macro that solves the problem.
- It's so simple that I'm a little embarrassed to include it in MacroAde,
- but it's so useful that if it helps even one person, it's worth my
- embarrassment. It has only one feature: it allows you to name macros
- as ALTZ plus any other ASCII character that can be entered from the
- keyboard in one keystroke and that is legal to use in a file name. As
- near as I can tell, this is approximately 54 characters. You can then
- press ALT and Z and then one of the 54 characters that completes the
- name of the macro.
- Once you've used up all the 54 characters for Z, you can rename the
- the ALTZ.wpm to ALT plus any other letter (e.g., ALTX.wpm). Then, if
- you change all references to ALTZ within the macro to the new name
- (e.g., ALTX), you can have another series of 54 easily invokable macros
- having the new prefix.
-
- 4. Installation:
-
- Nothing to it. Just copy ALTZ.wpm to the directory where your
- your WordPerfect macro files reside.
-
- 5. Operation:
-
- Just name the macros you want to invoke with ALT Z plus a legal
- file character to exactly that combination plus the .wpm extension.
- For example: ALTZ1.wpm. To invoke the macro, just press the
- ALT key and Z as if you were invoking a macro called ALTZ, and then
- press the key for the addition character in its name: in the example,
- 1.
-
- To create additional series of macros under different ALT letters
- than Z, just copy the ALTZ.wpm to the ALT?.wpm, where the ? stands
- for whatever other letter you've chosen among those you haven't yet
- used for an ALT macro. Then, change all references to ALTZ within the
- macro file itself to the new ALT? combination. Finally, name the
- macros you want to invoke under the ALT? keys as ALT? plus an additional
- unique identifying character from among the 54. You can repeat this
- process up to 24 more times, once for each of the remaining 24 letters
- on the keyboard, which are all that are legal combinations with the
- ALT key for naming macros.
