  26. &moi. is a package for MS-DOS and OS/2 which allows mail to be exchanged
  27. between a PC and any system using the UUCP "g" protocol (i.e.  UNIX
  28. systems).  It includes a UUCP command for binary transfers, but it
  29. currently does _not_ include USENET news support.

  36. The Archives

  38. &moi. is distributed in several .ZIP format archives, each with a name
  39. of the format of UUPCxxx#.ZIP, where 'xxx' are the last three digits of
  40. the release number, and '#' is a character denoting which archive it is.

  42. The different archives are as follows:

  45. UUPCxxxR is the required program archive, and includes the MS-DOS
  46. versions of the executable files needed to run &moi.,
  47. This is the only archive you need if you want read and deliver mail
  48. using the unmodified
  49. programs on MS-DOS, but you will normally want UUPCxxxO and UUPCxxxD as
  50. well.

  52. UUPCxxxO is the optional program archive, and includes the MS-DOS
  53. versions of additional executable files which support &moi..
  54. Programs are included to perform unattended polling of other systems,
  55. report &moi. status, copy binary files between systems, and a
  56. make the &moi. documents more readable on a terminal.

  58. UUPCxxx2 is the OS/2 required programs archive, and includes the OS/2
  59. versions of the executable programs found in the UUPCxxxR files.

  122. name and work directories.   Only one UUPC.RC file should exist per PC.

  126. (mailbox) of the user, the user's full name, and the directory to store mail
  127. in.  If several people share the same PC, then multiple PERSONAL.RC

  179. UUPCxxx2 archive.  Note that under OS/2, there are no .COM files; all
  180. the files have .EXE extensions.  The programs included are:

  184. MAIL.EXE is the mail user agent (MUA); it is used for both sending
  185. and receiving mail.

  187. UUCICO.EXE acts the mail transport agent by exchanging files with
  188. other systems via the serial port (modem).  It can both call out (active
  189. polling) and wait for another system to call (passive polling).

  191. UUXQT.COM processes requests received via UUCICO, invoking RMAIL.COM or
  192. other programs to process data.  It should be run after each UUCICO.EXE
  193. invocation.

  214. fixed signature file.

  216. NOVRSTRK.COM is a program which removes overstrikes from files for
  217. viewing on a terminal.  It's use is described above, and is optional.

  219. UUPOLL.COM serves as a driver for UUCICO and UUXQT, invoking UUCICO to
  220. answer
  221. the phone and/or dial out on regular basis and then automatically
  222. invoking UUXQT to process any files received; this permits unattended
  223. operation of &moi., allowing it, for example, to call another
  224. system in the middle of the night.
