  2. PC-Draft-CAD release 3.02 is distributed as
  3. three self-extracting LHARC files. The list
  4. below shows the file names in each EXE file.
  5.

  14. To install PC-Draft-CAD:
  15.  
  16.   - if you received this shareware version on diskette, there should be
  17.     three EXE files: PCDCAD1.EXE PCDCAD2 and PCDCAD3.EXE:
  18.  
  19.      To install on your hard disk (C:) 
  20.                                                           
  21.       1 - Place this disk in drive A:                     
  22.       2 - Enter: [C:] to make it your current drive.      
  23.       3 - Enter: [A:INSTALL].                             
  24.                                                           
  25.      To install on a two floppy system, you must have
  26.            THREE formatted (empty) disks                    
  27.                                                           
  28.       1 - Place this disk in drive A:                     
  29.       2 - Place a blank disk in drive B:                  
  30.       3 - Enter: [B:] to make B: your current drive.      
  31.       4 - Enter: [A:PCDCAD1].                             
  32.       5 - After all files have been extracted from PCDCAD1,
  33.       6 - Place a new blank disk in drive B:
  34.       7 - repeast steps 4, 5 and 6 for PCDCAD2 and PCDCAD3.

  36.    - if you received this from a BBS you obviously have already extracted
  37.      the files (or you wouldn't be reading this!). To select the correct
  38.      display driver and to set up your sub-directories, run: BBSINST.BAT.

  120. Hercules display type:
  121.  
  122. If you have a Hercules display, the install process will detect it and 
  123. create the proper start.bat file for your use. The Hercules driver is
  124. different than the other display drivers in that it executes DRAFT3.EXE
  125. directly and is not a TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) program. So, running:
  126. HGCDRV directly works just as good as running START.
  127.  
  128. Menu Choices:
  129.  
  130. If you have a mouse, moving the cursor to the top menu bar changes the mouse
  131. cursor to a pointing hand for menu selections. If you do not have a mouse, 
  132. the cursor disappears when you move into the menu bar, but you can still make
  133. menu choices in this way.
  134.  
  135. However, it does not make sense to choose drawing commands in this manner,
  136. because the begining cursor position which selects the starting point of
  137. a drawing element such as a line will be in the wrong place (at the top of 
  138. the screen). For drawing commands use the mouse left button or the F2
  139. function key instead (after positioning the cursor at the proper starting
  140. location).

  142. New [Q]uick move command:
  143.  
  144. You can now precisely position the cursor in relationship to your base point
  145. by using the [Q]uick move command. When you press the [Q] key a dialog window
  146. opens allowing you to enter the distance in feet and inches for both the Y
  147. offset and the X offset from your base point. After entering a value, first
  148. for the X offset, press ESC to continue and enter a value for the Y offset,
  149. then press ESC to exit the window. At that point (if the new location is
  150. within the current view) the cursor will be moved to the specified offset.

  152. For example to draw a line that is precisely 10 feet, 6 inches and 3/16 inch
  153. long:
  154.  
  155.     1. move the cursor to where you want the line to start.
  156.     2. press [Alt+B] to set your base point to zero at the current cursor
  157.        location.
  158.     3. press [L] to start the line command.
  159.     4. press [Q] to open the [Q]uick move window.
  160.     5. enter "10" for feet, press [Enter], enter "6" for inches, press
  161.        [Enter], enter "3" for the 16th. field. 
  162.     6. press [ESC] to exit the X offset window. and [ESC] again to exit
  163.        the Y offset window (so the line is horizontal -- Y offset = 0).
  164.     7. press [Enter] to end the line command.
  165.  
  166. In the case where the specified end point falls outside the current view,
  167. the current drawing command will be completed (you dont have to press [Enter]).
  168.  
  169. This command allows you to draw elements with precise endpoints even though
  170. those points would fall between screen pixels. Otherwise you would have to 
  171. Zoom in closer to position the cursor to the exact dimension.

  174. New command to move the cursor to the base position:
  175.  
  176. [Alt+Z] (for: "[Z]ip to base") moves the cursor to the base position. The 
  177. base position is set by [Alt+B].

  180. The DXF2PCD.EXE program has been improved. There is a new command line 
  181. argument (-M) which turns on Messages. This is useful for assessing the 
  182. range of DXF coordinate values when determining the correct parameters for
  183. the DXF2PCD command line argument.
