  130.                       Printing the On-Disk Documentation

  133.    The AS-EASY-AS help file can be printed in the form of a user's manual 
  134.    40-45 pages long, using the PRINTDOC.EXE program provided on this 
  135.    diskette.
  136.  
  137.    PRINTDOC can be run with 3 command line switches:
  138.  
  139.         /D=Device     This can be LPT1, LPT2, ...., or
  140.                       COM1, COM2,....., or any valid DOS file name.
  141.  
  142.         /L=Lines      Number printed of lines per page.  It includes 
  143.                       headers and footers, automatically added by the
  144.                       program. (A value of 58 is recommended).
  145.  
  146.         /G=Graphics   If this option is set to N (for No), all high bit
  147.                       ASCII characters (boxes, etc.) used in the help file 
  148.                       are converted to a close normal ASCII equivalent 
  149.                       character.  This switch is useful for printers that 
  150.                       do not support the full ASCII character set.

  164.    The information provided below is to help you start the program for
  165.    your hardware configuration.  For more details about the operation of
  166.    the program press the F1 (function) key once you have started the
  167.    program.

  169.    The following files are absolutely essential to run AS-EASY-AS:
  170.  
  171.                     ASEASY.EXE,  ASEASY.MSG
  172.  
  173.    These two files need to reside in the same sub-directory.  In addition 
  174.    to that, if the files ASEASY.HLP, ASEASY.PRT, ASEASY.CFG, HTREE.EXE, 
  175.    and any Addins, are going to be used, they HAVE to reside in the same 
  176.    (ASEASY) directory as well.

  179.     AS-EASY-AS is started from DOS using the command:

  187.     /H2    - Enables graphics for Hercules, Video Pg. 2
  188.     /E     - Enables graphics for EGA

  190.     /Q     - Quick screen updating for CGA
  191.     /P     - Set the default to Panel-type menus
  192.     /V1    - Force CGA mode on EGA monitor
  193.     /NT    - No Turbo (Slow Down Cursor)
  194.     /RA    - Round Absolute (e.g. 1.6 to 2., -1.6 to -1.)
  195.     /CTR   - Centers the column identifiers
  196.     /MY=x  - Sets the Currency sign to x (instead of $)
  197.     /BK=x  - Set screen blankout period to x seconds
  198.     /TP=x  - Set column header character to x
  199.     /DV=x  - Set column division character to x
  200.     /MONO  - Changes colors to white on black (CGA card)
  201.     /SP    - Suppress the column and row borders
  202.     /SET=$MGBF - Set the default colors (single digit Hex)

  204.     /DIR=Path..  -  Set the Path to the WKS files
  205.     /AUTO=File.WKS - Specify the worksheet to be loaded 
  206.                      when the program is started

  208.        Example:
  209.               A> ASEASY /H2/DIR=C:\Data [ENTER]
  210.                  Starts AS-EASY-AS for a Hercules type monitor/card
  211.                  combination, using the second page for graphics, and
  212.                  instructs the program that the data files will be
  213.                  located on drive C, in subdirectory "Data".

  217.                      RUNNING AS-EASY-AS FROM ANY DIRECTORY
  218.                      -------------------------------------

  220.    1. Set a DOS environment variable (ASEASY) to the drive and path of
  221.       the ASEASYAS .EXE, HLP, PRT and MSG files (Note that these files
  222.       should be in the same directory).  This can be done at the DOS 
  223.       prompt by typing: 
  224.       
  225.                       SET ASEASY=Drive:\Directory 
  226.       
  227.       and pressing [ENTER].  The command may also be included in your 
  228.       AUTOEXEC.BAT file so the variable is set automatically every time 
  229.       you start your computer. 
  230.  
  231.    2. Make sure that the directory, where the ASEASY.EXE file is located,
  232.       is included in your system's Path command.
  233.    
  234.    If done correctly, typing ASEASY and pressing [ENTER], from any
  235.    directory, will start the program.

  243.    Version 4.00 of AS-EASY-AS supports the development and use of Add-In
  244.    programs.  These programs can either be self-standing executable
  245.    programs that automatically shell to DOS but do not involve the AS-EASY-
  246.    AS worksheet in RAM, or they can be developed to access the current
  247.    worksheet data.  
  248.    
  249.    TRIUS is pleased to announce that a developer's package is now available 
  250.    for AS-EASY-AS.  The package provides the information necessary to 
  251.    develop Add-ins for AS-EASY-AS, Ver. 4.00i and later.   You may order 
  252.    this package using the ORDER.ME file form, on this diskette, or by 
  253.    calling TRIUS to charge your purchase to you VISA or Mastercard.

  401.     DriveLetter and Directory, above, should be replaced with your 
  402.     actual Drive and Directory (e.g., C:\ASA4, C:\ASEASY4,  
  403.     D:\ASEASY\VER4, etc.)

  431.                     Upgrading from AS-EASY-AS Version 3.01

  434.    If you are upgrading from Version 3.01 (or an earlier version) please 
  435.    note the following: 
  436.   
  437.   *  WKS files generated with earlier versions of the program,
  438.      should be compatible with the new version.
  439.   
  440.   *  To make a NEW Ver. 4.00 working diskette or hard disk 
  441.      directory, use the SETUP.BAT procedure (see section on
  442.      installation).
  443.   
  444.   *  If you are using a Ver. 3.01 diskette or directory, make sure 
  445.      you delete the following Ver. 3.01 files, before you try to run 
  446.      the new version of the program:
  447.   
  448.          ASEASY.COM  
  449.          SPREAD.000
  450.          SPREAD.HLP
  451.          SPREAD.MSG
  452.   
  453.      If you do not delete the file ASEASY.COM, you might end up 
  454.      executing the old (3.01) version of the program, every time 
  455.      you try to execute the new version.
