- Merry Christmas everybody! And what a busy year it has been for us. I
- am pleased to report sales of Fastgraph are booming, and between the
- trade shows magazine publicity, we are having a wonderful time.
-
- I want to thank all of our friends and customers who have made 1993 a
- great year for us. This program is our gift to you and your children.
- We hope you enjoy it, and we hope next year, and all future years,
- will be as happy for you as 1993 was for us.
-
- Here's what you need to run the Christmas Coloring Book:
-
- A hard disk with approximately 1M free disk space
- A Super VGA Card with at least 512k
- An SVGA monitor
- A mouse
-
- Christmas Coloring Book is distributed in a file called:
-
- XMASCC93.ZIP
-
- To install this program, put the zip file in a subdirectory on your
- hard disk and unzip it. If you have any trouble unzipping this file,
- your sysop will help you. If you don't have a sysop, then maybe an
- eggnog will help you! Merry Christmas!
-
- After you unzip the zip file, you will see these files:
-
- XMAS.EXE -- the program
- XMAS.FGI -- pictures and fonts
- XMAS.DOC -- this file
- FILE_ID.DIZ -- bbs description
- VENDOR.DOC -- a message from Scrooge! Don't read this unless you are
- a shareware vendor!
-
- After you run the program, you may find three more files on your disk:
-
- XMAS1.PCX -- picture of candles your kid colored
- XMAS2.PCX -- picture of Christmas tree you colored
- XMAS3.PCX -- picture of Santa colored by elves
-
- These files are for saving your work. You can delete these files any
- time you want, but then your work won't be saved! Don't worry about
- it, you can always color the pictures again.
-
- To run the Christmas Coloring Book, just type:
-
- XMAS
-
- The program will load (give it a few seconds) and you will see the
- attractive title screen with my name on it. Press any key to continue
- and you will get the first page of the coloring book. This is a
- picture you can color with your mouse. Use the mouse to select a
- color on the right side, then point to the area you want to color and
- click the left mouse button. That's all there is to it! It's simple!
- No assembly required! I'm not going to give you anything difficult
- for Christmas. That's your inlaws' job!
-
- Be sure to use the left mouse button to paint your picture. The right
- mouse button will undo your last color. This is an advanced feature
- suggested by Karen Crowther of Redwood Games. Thanks, Karen!
-
- If you want to color a different picture, then press a key. Which
- key? Any key you want! I'm not picky. I tried to make this program so
- easy, you won't have to ask your kids for help! You can probably run
- this program without assistance after 3 eggnogs! I recommend you try
- it and see.
-
- There is just one special key to watch out for. That is the Escape
- key. Escape will bounce you right out of the Christmas Coloring Book
- and back to DOS. Just remember:
-
- ESC = quit
-
- Don't worry, if you press Escape, you will be given a chance to save
- your work. A window will pop up, with the question, "Do you want to
- save your work? Y/N". You have to answer "Y" or "N". If you answer
- anything besides "Y" or "y", your work will not be saved, and you
- will have to start coloring all over again. Such hard work! Have
- another eggnog!
-
- You are also given the chance to save your work every time you change
- pictures. When you save your work, the picture is saved in a file
- called XMAS1.PCX, XMAS2.PCX or XMAS3.PCX. It will take several
- seconds to save the picture because it is so big. Each one is 1024
- pixels wide by 768 pixels high. This is all very technical and
- boring. Let's move on to the next subject which is:
-
- CLEAR
-
- To clear your picture, you have to click on the little box in the
- upper left corner marked "CLEAR". It's a pretty tiny box, because I
- wouldn't want you to click on it by accident. Be careful! Don't clear
- your picture unless you are sure you want to start all over!
-
- That's about it for the instructions. You are welcome to use this
- program forever without paying for it. It is a free gift to you from
- me. If you are a programmer, and you want to know how I wrote this
- program, you can contact me at the following address:

- which gives you all the tools you need to write great programs like this.
-
- If you are a shareware vendor, be sure to follow the instructions in
- the file VENDOR.
-
- Users and sysops are welcome to pass this program along, but please
- don't distribute any modified versions.

- Finally, a special thanks to my favorite beta tester, Arthur Gruber,

-
- Merry Christmas to Santas, zombies, and children everywhere!
