- WELCOME TO FUND MANAGER
- ***********************************************************
-
- Fund Manager is a portfolio management application designed
- for the individual investor.
-
- An overview, as well as all the documentation for Fund
- Manager is available via on-line help from inside the
- application.
-
- To get a quick feel for the capabilities of Fund Manager,
- simply double click on any of the sample icons created
- by the installation program.
-
- If you have any comments, suggestions, or questions they
- are welcomed by the author. See below for information on
- how to contact the author.
-
- Fund Manager is also available for Windows 95. The Win95
- and Windows 3.1 versions use the same data format, so they
- may be used interchangeably.
-
-
- ***********************************************************
- FUND MANAGER HOME PAGE
- ***********************************************************
-
- Fund Manager has a home page on the World Wide Web:
-
- Here, you can always find the latest versions, tips for using
- Fund Manager, what's coming up in the future, and pointers
- to other finance related sites.
-
-

- Manager. Run the program "install.exe".
-
- Example: a:\install.exe
-

- UPGRADE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- ***********************************************************
-
- Select the RUN command from the FILE menu of the Program
- Manager. Run the program "install.exe".
-
- Example: a:\install.exe
-
- EASY UPGRADE INSTALLATION:
- If you already have a previous version of Fund Manager
- on your computer you can install this newer version
- directly over your old version. During installation
- specify the directory where your current version is
- located (eg. c:\finance). You can continue to use your
- existing data files. Your old version of Fund Manager
- will be overwritten. New samples will be installed in
- the samples sub-directory.
-
- ADVANCED UPGRADE INSTALLATION:
- If you want to try this new version before deciding to
- upgrade, install this version to a different directory
- (eg. c:\finance2). Versions 9.x use a new data file
- format. Once you save your data files with version 9.x
- older versions will not be able to directly read
- the new file format. If you only want to experiment with
- version 9.x you should operate on a copy of your data files.
- (Remember that portfolios contain the full path of the
- investments they contain, so after making a copy of your
- data files, you should not use your portfolios, as they
- will be pointing to your original data files.)
-
- See the bottom of this file for a listing of the improvements
- in this version.

- DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
- ***********************************************************
-
- Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
- before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and
- continue using it, you are expected to register. Individual
- programs differ on details -- some request registration
- while others require it, some specify a maximum trial
- period. With registration, you get anything from the simple
- right to continue using the software to an updated program
- with printed manual.
-
- Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial
- software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with
- a few specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware
- authors are accomplished programmers, just like commercial
- authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In
- both cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main
- difference is in the method of distribution. The author
- specifically grants the right to copy and distribute the
- software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group.
- For example, some authors require written permission before
- a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.
-
- Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.
- You should find software that suits your needs and
- pocketbook, whether it's commercial or Shareware. The
- Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because
- you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is
- low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-
- back guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't
- pay for it.
-

- DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT
- ***********************************************************
-
- Users of Fund Manager(copyright 1993-7 by Mark Beiley) must
- accept this disclaimer of warranty:
-
- "Fund Manager is supplied as is. The author disclaims all
- warranties, expressed or implied, including, without
- limitation, the warranties of merchantability and of
- fitness for any purpose. The author assumes no liability
- for damages, direct or consequential, which may result from
- the use of Fund Manager."
-
- Fund Manager is a "shareware program" and is provided at no
- charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it
- with your friends, but please do not give it away altered
- or as part of another system. The essence of "user-
- supported" software is to provide personal computer users
- with quality software without high prices, and yet to
- provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop
- new products. If you find this program useful and find
- that you are using Fund Manager and continue to use Fund
- Manager after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
- registration payment of $23 to Mark Beiley.
- The registration fee will license one copy for use on any
- one computer at any one time. You must treat this software
- just like a book. An example is that this software may be
- used by any number of people and may be freely moved from
- one computer location to another, so long as there is no
- possibility of it being used at one location while it's
- being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by
- two different persons at the same time.
-
- Commercial users of Fund Manager must register and pay for
- their copies of Fund Manager within 30 days of first use or
- their license is withdrawn. Site-License arrangements may
- be made by contacting Mark Beiley.
-
- Anyone distributing Fund Manager for any kind of remunera-
- tion must first contact Mark Beiley at the address above
- for authorization.
-
- You are encouraged to pass a copy of Fund Manager along to
- your friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to reg-
- ister their copy if they find that they can use it. All
- registered users will receive a registered version of Fund
- Manager.
