- Graphic Workshop is a program for working with computer graphic files. It
- will handle most popular formats:

- MacPaint
- PC Paintbrush files with up to 256 colours
- GEM/IMG files of the sort used by Ventura Publisher
- GIF files of any size and up to 256 colours
- TIFF files (with some restrictions)
- EPS files ── encapsulated PostScript ── for some operations
- WordPerfect graphic (WPG)
- Microsoft Windows Paint (MSP)
- IFF/LBM/CE files (from Deluxe Paint, among others)
- BMP files (as found in Windows 3)
- Pictor/PC Paint (PIC) files ── also used by Grasp

- The program has a simple menu-driven environment which, apart from graphics
- processing facilities, lets you rename, delete, and copy files.

- Using Graphic Workshop, you can have your image files in the format that your
- DTP/art software wants to use them in. In addition, using the halftoning and
- dithering facilities you can convert full colour digitised photographs ──
- most notably GIF files ── for use as really excellent black and white clip
- art suitable for inclusion in your documents.

- Image files of any size can be handled. Extended/expanded memory will be
- utilised if you have it, or disk space if you haven't.

- Graphic Workshop will drive all of the popular display cards. At present it
- supports the following:

- CGA Hercules EGA VGA Paradise Plus
- Headland Video 7 Trident Hercules Graphic Station
- Dell super VGA (which is actually a Paradise card)
- ATI VGA Wonder card or ATI VGA Edge

- Not all types of picture will display on all types of screen. If you are
- using CGA and find that a picture has too many colours, try dithering the
- picture to black and white using GWS.

- GWS is great for those using DTP programs as it lets you convert files into
- suitable formats for DTP programs. It also allows you to work with Windows 3
- BMP files, and many other formats as listed above. For full information read
- the document file GRAFWORK.DOC. As well as being very informative you'll also
- find the author of GWS seems to have a great sense of humour.

- Graphics files, such a GIF pictures, are often obtained from online systems.
- The GIF format is copyright Compuserve Information service and Compuserve has
- large numbers of GIF files for download. You will also find them on services
- such as MicroLink, and most Bulletin Boards. Direct-Line on 081-842-2030 has
- a large selection available for download.

- Graphics Workshop is shareware. If you find it useful, please follow the
- instructions for registration given in the document file. You'll note that
- the author offers some very unusual ways to register the program!
