[ITAL]It's one of the big things about [PARA]Keele as far as Keele is concerned.[EITAL] 1st years actually have to [PARA]apply to live out rather than to live in. As a consequence, they are[PARA]almost all housed in the University's 4 halls on campus. They are[PARA]all self-catering (some have pay-as-you-eat refectories and snack[PARA]bars, though). They vary in size from 400 to 800 places and have[PARA]single and mixed sex blocks. 2 halls are blocks of flats for 4 [PARA]students each, sharing a kitchen and bathroom, although these [PARA]are mainly for 2nd and 3rd years and finalists. After the 1st year,[PARA]students may find that they have to live out for their 2nd year. [PARA]Some space is available on campus specially for mature [PARA]students and a few single parents. Off campus, the University [PARA]owns houses which can accommodate up to 71 students in [PARA]groups of 4 to 6.[PARA][BOLD]Car parking:[EBOLD] Limited permit parking on campus with clamps.[HDNG]EXTERNALLY:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]A1[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Renting: 13% [BULL] Ave rent: ú28[ESTAT][PARA][BOLD]Availability:[EBOLD] [ITAL]Although it can be tough finding something suitable, [PARA]most manage to find housing in Newcastle. However, the [PARA]University is expanding and may have to reduce its proportion of [PARA]students living in. This will create problems in the local housing [PARA]market. When living out a car wouldn't go unused, unless [PARA]students are on the 218 bus route.[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Housing help:[EBOLD] The University's Accommodation Office has a full [PARA]time officer, a vacancies newsletter and an housing approval scheme.[PARA][PARA]
