The Union has a late bar licence and is able to open till 1am Monday to Friday and till 12.30 Saturdays.[PARA][BOLD]Theatres:[EBOLD] The Chapel (cap 250) makes an adequate theatre venue, although the Clockhouse courtyard is also used for the students' annual open-air Shakespeare.[PARA][BOLD]Cinemas:[EBOLD] The film club has recently shown Indecent Proposal, Jurassic Park and Bambi.[PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos:[EBOLD] There's a new nightclub with a capacity of 400, a 2am licence, thrice weekly events. The Ballroom (800) is used for society events.[PARA][BOLD]Music venues:[EBOLD] The night club also plays host to various bands, [ITAL]often of vaguely bulging stature [EITAL](such as recently BjÜrn Again, D:Ream and Bronski Beat). The Chapel and Harvey Greens are used for smaller draws.[PARA][BOLD]Cabaret:[EBOLD] Fortnightly cabaret turns in the nightclub have recently attracted John Hegley, Jim Tavare and Harry Hill.[PARA][BOLD]Others:[EBOLD] In the Ballroom, appropriately enough, regular balls are held as well as frequent cultural and international events. Halls also arrange their own entertainments.[HDNG]EATING OUT:[EHDNG][PARA]During the day, there's a whole host of munch rooms on campus including the coffee shop in the Chancellor's Building, the Lindsay Cafe Bar, the Union's Cafe Mirage and the hall refectories. Some of the above are open into the evening and Union eateries stay open till the small hours when the bar has a late licence. There are restaurants, cafes, snack bars and fast food downfalls around Newcastle and Stoke, or, there are the local pubs. Until about midnight, Chinese and Indian cuisine is the order of the hour.
