  1. DeskNotes 2.0

  4. DeskNotes is an application for quickly recording and organizing 
  5. information you need to remember - without cluttering up your desk
  6. with scraps of paper. With it you can create realistic looking notes
  7. right on your desktop. Use it to quickly jot down ideas before they
  8. are lost.
  9.  
  10. Its Note Manager can be used to organize your notes into notebooks for
  11. ease of retrieval. Search functions are provided for quickly locating
  12. information.
  13.  
  14. With the Attribute Browser you can extend your notes by defining
  15. priorities and alarms, or to even schedule notes to open and
  16. programs to run automatically.

  18. Need to do some math? Just type an expression on a note, and
  19. DeskNotes will compute the result.

  21. Included is a built in Note Server. Use it to send and receive
  22. notes from other DeskNotes users.

  24. DeskNotes was also designed to be fun! Each DeskNote has over 100
  25. properties that can be adjusted to change the appearance of a note.
  26. Sounds can be assigned to Note Events, to further customize
  27. DeskNotes.

  29. To get you started, DeskNotes includes a starter kit of predefined
  30. note templates and a collection of over 200 image files that make great
  31. looking note backgrounds.

  33. DeskNotes runs on Windows 95, 98, and NT 4.0. With a P90 or better, it
  34. can display hundreds of notes at once. Try it. I'll bet you never opened
  35. 200 windows at once.

  48. DESKNT20.ZIP - a pkzip/winzip compatible file archive

  50. This zip file contains the following:
  51.  
  52. README.TXT   - the file you are reading.
  53. DESKNT20.EXE - a standard Windows style installer that contains
  54.                DeskNotes 2.0 and an un-installer.
  55. VENDINFO.DIZ - a product information file.
  56.  
  57. INSTALLATION
  58. ------------
  59. 1) Un-zip DESKNT20.ZIP to a temporary directory.
  60. 2) Run DESKNT20.EXE, answering the questions.
  61.  
  62.    (If you are using winzip you can just double click on
  63.     desknt20.exe inside of winzip to run the installer,
  64.     without first extracting it.)
  65.  
  66. DeskNotes DOES NOT install ANY files (see notes) in any directory, 
  67. other than the one YOU tell it to. It DOES NOT replace any of your
  68. system files, or otherwise add to the clutter in your Windows
  69. directory.

  74. UN-INSTALL
  75. ----------
  76. You can un-install DeskNotes using "Add/Remove" programs in the
  77. Windows control panel.

  82. DeskNotes uses long filenames! If you are installing to a network
  83. drive, please make sure that it supports long filenames.

  85. The installer will copy the files "unvise.exe" and "unvise32.dll"
  86. to your Windows directory. They are about 100k total. This is the
  87. un-installer program, and is the recommended location for these
  88. files. You may already have these files if you installed a program
  89. that uses the same installer as DeskNotes.

  92. SHAREWARE REGISTRATION
  93. ----------------------
  94. This is shareware, and must be licensed after 30 days.
  95. The enclosed help file includes an order form and instructions
  96. for registering your copy of DeskNotes. The file "license.txt"
  97. contains the complete license agreement.

  114. If you include an e-mail with your mail-in registration, most locations
  115. in North America should receive a registration by e-mail in less than
  116. a week.

  119. ARTWORK LICENSE
  120. ---------------
  121. Included with DeskNotes are over 200 bitmap files that you can
  122. use as backgrounds for your DeskNotes.
  123.  
  124. If you have not registered DeskNotes, you can only use these
  125. files in DeskNotes. You can drag and drop them onto notes, or 
  126. use the Properties Paper Dialog to select one as a background
  127. for a note.

  129. Registered users will be provided with information needed to
  130. make these files useable in any application. They are also
  131. free to use them for Web pages or whatever, as long as they
  132. are not publicly re-distributed or re-sold.
  133.  
  134. Most of the images are best viewed at color depths HIGHER than 256
  135. colors. To change your color depth, right click on your desktop
  136. and select Properties Settings. If your video card supports it,
  137. select at least 16 bit (high color mode) color. This will improve
  138. the appearance of all applications you run. Not just DeskNotes.

  141. point for your own custom backgrounds. If you make something
