- Section 1: About Crypter
-
- This program is designed to allow a moderate level of privacy for
- anyone wanting to send private messages back and forth between
- someone. It is not high grade encryption. Yet, there a one in
- 9,216 (96^2) chance of guessing the encryption table correctly. So
- for someone wanting an easy and quick way to talk privately to
- someone over the internet, this is the perfect solution! I wrote
- this entire program, setup files, everything... in about 5 hours
- total. Therefore, I'm giving it away. This program is FREEWARE!
- Distribute it to anyone who you feel would benefit from it. All I
- ask in return is that you visit my web site for other freeware,
- shareware, and games I've developed.

- Section 2: Starting Crypter
-
- The first time you load crypter.exe, you will be prompted to enter
- a name for an encryption table. This will create an initial
- encryption table, and use it to encrypt and decrypt your text.
- This encryption table will be unique (1:9216). This encryption
- table will also be written to a file on your hard drive. To let
- someone else read your encrypted text, you must send them the
- encryption table file. Multiple encryption tables can be created,
- as many as you like! This is good if you want to speak to several
- different people. All you have to do is create another table
- for each person you want to talk to, and send them that file. The
- current encryption table being used for all of your encryption and
- decryption, is displayed at the top of the program. You can also
- change this file to another table, such as one that someone else
- has created so that you can exchange private messages.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------
- Section 3: Encrypting/Decrypting Text
-
- This is very simple. The button marked ">>" sends takes your
- original text, encrypts it, then puts it in the "Encrypted Text"
- box. To decrypt text, copy and paste the text into the "Encrypted
- Text" box, or open an encrypted text file (*.ctx). Then click
- the button marked "<<". This will decrypt the text, and put it in
- the "Original Text" box. Note: Your current encryption table must
- be the same one that was used to encrypt the text for this to work
- properly.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------
- Section 4: Creating an Encryption/Decryption Table
-
- Just click the "Create Table" button on the lower part of the
- program screen. You will be asked to enter a name for the new
- encryption table. This file will be stored in the progam
- directory in the format -- (name you entered).enc. The table will be
- loaded and set as your current encryption table. You can send this
- table (the .enc file) to anyone who you want to share encrypted
- information with.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------
- Section 5: Selecting an Encryption Table to use
-
- Also very simple. Just click the "Select Table" button at the
- bottom of the program screen. Then from the file open dialog window
- select the encryption table you wish to use.
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------------
- Section 6: Saving or Opening an Encrypted Text File
-
- To save an encrypted file, click the "Save As..." button under the
- "Encrypted Text" box. To open an encrypted file click the
- "Encrypted File" button at the bottom of the program screen.
-
