  19. 1.0     Supported VESA modes
  20.  
  21. The VESA modes supported by your mach64 card are dependent upon the 
  22. amount of video memory and the monitor type selected in the ADVANCED or 
  23. QUICK SETUP.
  24.  
  25. To determine the modes supported by your current configuration you must 
  26. install the mach64 utilities, then run VESATEST from the mach64 directory.  
  27.  
  28. 1) Run INSTALL and select "Utilities Installation" from the Main Menu.  
  29. 2) Follow the screen instructions to completion.
  30. 3) When INSTALL finishes copying all necessary files, press <escape> to 
  31.    exit install. 
  32. 4) Change directory to the mach64 (default) directory and type "VESATEST".
  33. 5) All the modes currently supported will be displayed.

  37. 2.0     mach64 VESA TSR 
  38.  
  39. If you experience any problems with applications that use VESA modes,  
  40. install and run the ATI mach64 Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) VESA  
  41. program M64VBE.COM. 
  42.  
  43. The default settings for M64VBE.COM are:
  44.  
  45. - dual read and write windows enabled
  46. - 320 modes enabled
  47. - VGA Wonder memory paging disabled
  48. - VGA CRT parameters enabled
  49.  
  50. To install M64VBE.COM: (from a DOS prompt)
  51.  
  52.    - Insert Disk # 1 in the floppy drive. Type:
  53.      A: <enter> (For drive b, substitute B: for A:) 
  54.      CD\ <enter>
  55.    - Start the installation program by typing:
  56.      INSTALL <enter>
  57.    - Select "Utilities Installation" from the Main Menu.  
  58.    - Follow the screen instructions to completion.
  59.    - When INSTALL finishes copying all necessary files, press <escape> 
  60.      to exit install. 
  61.    - Change directory to the c:\mach64 (default) and type:  
  62.      M64VBE <enter> to load the program.
  63.    - Start your VESA application

  66. To un-install the mach64 VESA TSR Change directory to the c:\mach64 
  67. (default) and type M64VBE U <enter>.
  68.  
  69. Note: If you experience any problems unloading the TSR please consult 
  70. your DOS documentation for TSR un-install limitations.

  74. 3.0     M64VBE Advanced Switches
  75.

  77. If your VESA application continues to experience display problems after 
  78. loading M64VBE.COM, you should consult the application's documentation 
  79. for specific requirements.  If the documentation indicates that it 
  80. requires VGA Wonder paging, single read and write windows or accelerator 
  81. CRT parameter you must use the Advanced M64VBE switches listed below.

  83. Syntax:  M64VBE sw1 sw2... (where sw# represent a valid M64VBE switch)
  84.  
  85. M64VBE SWITCHES:
  86.  
  87.     s   - Enable single window implementation. This single window will be
  88.       readable as well as writable.
  89.     d   - Enable dual read and write windows implementation.
  90.     3   - Enable 320x200 & 320x240 modes in 8bpp, 15bpp, 16bpp and 24bpp.   
  91.       VESA mode number 202h, 10dh, 10eh, 10fh are for 320x200 8bpp, 
  92.       15bpp, 16bpp and 24bpp respectively. Similarly, VESA mode number 
  93.       212h, 213h, 214h and 215h are for 320x240.
  94.    -3   - Disable 320x200 & 320x240 modes.
  95.    vw   - Enable VGAWonder memory paging. Mach64 uses a different paging
  96.       scheme from VGAWonder paging scheme. This option will make 
  97.       Mach64 backward compatible to the VGAWonder paging scheme.
  98.   -vw   - Disable VGAWonder paging.
  99.   vga   - Use standard VGA CRT parameters.
  100.   acc   - Use accelerator CRT parameters.   
  101.     u   - Unload or remove M64VBE from memory.

  105. 4.0     Known Problems
  106.  
  107. MOUSE CURSOR PROBLEMS
  108. If you are experiencing mouse pointer trails or any problem associated 
  109. with a pointing device, the VESA application may require a single read 
  110. and write window. To correct this problem, use M64VBE with the single 
  111. window implementation enabled.

  114.     OPERATION CRUSADER by AVALON HILL
  115.     WORD PERFECT TUTORIAL by LEARNKEY, INC.
  116.  
  117. syntax: M64VBE S VGA
  118.  
  119.  
  120. 1/4 OF THE IMAGE VISIBLE
  121. If the VESA application only displays in the upper 1/4 of the screen the 
  122. application may be assuming that the mach64 is a VGA Wonder compatible 
  123. card.  To correct this problem use M64VBE with the VGAWonder memory paging 
  124. enabled and VGA CRT parameters.

  127.     AIR WARRIOR by KESMAI
  128.     THE GRANDEST FLEET by QUANTUM QUALITY PRODUCTIONS
  129.     FXDRAW by ROBOCFG
  130.  
  131. syntax: M64VBE VW VGA

  134. BLACK SCREENS OR SYSTEM HANGS
  135. If starting the VESA application causes a black display or locks the 
  136. system, the application may not be compatible with Accelerated CRT 
  137. parameters. To correct this problem use M64VBE with the standard VGA CRT 
  138. parameters enabled.

  142.     HARDBALL IV by ACCOLADE INC.
  143.     EIGHT BALL DELUXE PINBALL by AMTEX

  145.     OCEANS BELOW by SOFTWARE TOOLWORKS
