  46. WOW!  IEradicator now works with Windows 95, Windows 98,
  47. Windows 98 Second Edition (SE) and Windows Millennium!!!!

  49. NO Extra Files are required and the whole removal is complete
  50. in under 2 minutes!!

  53. WHAT IS IERADICATOR?
  54. --------------------
  55.  
  56. IEradicator disintegrates all versions of Internet Explorer from
  57. v3 to v5.5 from an existing installation of Windows 95, Windows 98,
  58. Windows 98SE, and Windows Millennium.  The removal process
  59. eliminates 99% of Internet Explorer's files and registry keys
  60. to clear approximately 30MB of disk space. The remaining 1% is left
  61. behind to maintain compatibility with programs that use the MS HTML
  62. layout engine (e.g. Outlook Express).
  63.  
  64. IEradicator is offered as UNSUPPORTED LICENSED FREEWARE; You
  65. must read and accept the terms of the enclosed LICENSE.  Use of
  66. IEradicator consititutes ACCEPTANCE of all terms of the LICENSE,
  67. whether you have read the licence or not!

  69. Why Uninstall Internet Explorer?

  72. *  Some people just want to be rid of it because they choose to use
  73. a different browser (shock!! horror!)
  74.  
  75. *  IEradicator disintegrates IE from the desktop - so if you install
  76. IE again you will have a faster desktop environment *and* the modern
  77. IE browser of your choosing.
  78.  
  79. *  After an IEradicator removal you have a clean foundation onto
  80. which you can install a more recent version or IE and the result
  81. is likely to be a smoother install and more stable final product
  82. when compared to an upgrade installation.

  84. *  Severe problems and Operating system Crashes can be
  85. solved by removing IE with IERadicator and then reinstalling IE
  86. again (if thats your choice) from the source files.  (Such crashes
  87. are the price we pay because someone thought integrating a web
  88. browser into the desktop was a good idea!!)

  90. *  Windows 98, ME without Internet Explorer is faster, more stable,
  91. and takes up less space on your hard disk. These "improvements" make 
  92. 98lite (Windows 9x without IE) a desirable system for people who
  93. are happy to trade some features they rarely or never use to 
  94. maximise speed and stability.

  103. Internet Explorer Removal
  104. -------------------------

  106. The IEradicator Internet Explorer removal is NOT reversible and
  107. there is no uninstaller for IEradicator.  
  108.  
  109. You can reinstall Internet Explorer as a stand alone
  110. Browser (just like Netscape) and keep a substantial performance 
  111. improvement. You can also reinstall Windows 98 over the top of 
  112. your customized setup to regain all the removed features 
  113. including Internet Explorer complete.
  114.  
  115. With IEradicator NO files are copied to the hard disk and NO
  116. additional files are required.
  117.  
  118. Unlike 98lite, you do NOT need to have a copy of your Windows 
  119. setup files on the hard disk.
  120.  
  121. IEradicator has been upgraded to work on all versions of windows 9x
  122. whether or not they have been pre-customised using utilities such as
  123. 98lite.

  126. Files and Directories Removed From Windows With IE Removal

  129. THIS FILE WILL UNCONDITIONALLY DELETE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING 
  130. DIRECTORIES AND ALL FILES THEY CONTAIN WITHOUT PROMPTING. 
  131. BACKUP ANY PERSONAL FILES YOU MAY WANT TO KEEP; INTERNET 
  132. EXPLORER "FAVORITES" WILL BE DELETED IN THIS OPERATION.

  197. INSTALLATION - Lets Do it!
  198. ------------

  200. Unzip the files contained in the distribution ZIP file to any 
  201. location on your hard disk that you like. I suggest your desktop
  202. for simplicity.
  203.  
  204. With Windows loaded, RIGHT-CLICK on the IErad.INF file and select 
  205. "Install" from the popup context menu.
  206.  
  207. You will be asked to REBOOT; REBOOT IMMEDIATELY, and do not move
  208. or delete the IErad.INF file until AFTER you have rebooted.
  209.  
  210. THERE IS NO EXECUTABLE FILE - IEradicator uses Microsoft's built 
  211. in INF scripting engine.
  212.  
  213. This removal is quite rigorous.  If an application breaks, 
  214. reinstalling it should put back anything IEradicator deleted,
  215. however such occurences are rare.
  216.  
  217. If you cannot get your application to work, I suggest you visit 
  218. http://www.98lite.net and see if there is a fix, or if not, feel
  219. free to post a request for help on the Message Central notice 
  220. board.  If you cannot resolve your situation you will just have 
  221. to reinstall IE.
