Tip #1: Toolbars can be moved to any side of the program. Experiment to make the best fit.
Tip #2: Toolbars that you don't use can be hidden. Select the Toolbars menu item from the View menu and select the toolbars to hide.
Tip #3: Use shortcut keys! Select the Keyboard Map menu item from the Help menu to display a list of keyboard shortcuts for common tasks.
Tip #4: If you don't know what a button does, simply move the mouse pointer over the button and a tooltip text will appear.
Tip #5: To edit a symbol that uses a dialog to input data, hold down the Ctrl key while click on the toolbar button for the symbol.
Tip #6: In dialog boxes that contain lists for input of a symbol, you can double click on the list item to set the symbol and close the dialog.
Tip #7: Certain symbols (ties, mutes) can be applied to an entire column of notes by holding the Shift key down while clicking on the toolbar for that symbol.
Tip #8: To nudge a selected text item, hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the arrow key that matches the direction you wish to nudge.
Tip #9: If you're transcribing a song and aren't up on key signatures, use the Tonality Tool on the Tools menu. It will suggest a key for the song.
Tip #10: Never play your electric guitar in a bathtub filled with water
Tip #11: After importing a MIDI song, convert a guitar track to rhythm slashes if it's chordy. It'll save space.
Tip #12: Always check the score! Use the Score Checker to find measure and music direction errors.
Tip #13: Change the end bar of a staff section by clicking on the end bar. You'll see the mouse cursor change to a bar when it's over the hotspot.
Tip #14: You can control how chord names are displayed by using the Chord Name Suffix Display options. Select the Options menu item on the View menu.
Tip #15: Store all your tunings in the Tuning Dictionary! (F10).
Tip #16: There are 2 scores in a Power Tab Document: Guitar and Bass; Place guitar parts in the Guitar Score and bass parts in the Bass Score.
Tip #17: Toggle between scores: F2 sets the Guitar Score active, F3 sets the Bass score active.
Tip #18: Use Rehearsal Signs to mark passages within the score.
Tip #19: Export Data: You can export a score to both MIDI and ASCII tab format.
Tip #20: Need a bass track from a MIDI file? Use the Import MIDI Track functionality.
Tip #21: Add and manipulate guitar setups using the Guitar Property Sheet (select the Setup menu item on the Guitar menu).
Tip #22: Be sure to place Gtr. In symbols at the proper places in the song or you won't hear any playback. The Score Checker will identify any missing Gtr. In symbols in the score.
Tip #23: Use the File Autosave/Recovery Tool feature. If the program crashes, you'll have backups.
Tip #24: You can set the Song Fade In/Out by using the Fade menu item on the Music Symbols menu.
Tip #25: Use the Low Melody toolbar button to toggle a note to be displayed with it's stem down
Tip #26: Use octave signs if the notes on the music staff start getting too high or low.
Tip #27: Work one section at a time in a score. After you've got it finished and error checked, justify the notes by pressing the "j" key.
Tip #28: Need new ideas for chord fingerings? Use the Chord Dictionary (F9) to display a list of chord diagrams for a particular chord.
Tip #29: You can change the font used by the numbering on the tablature staff by selecting the Fonts menu item on the View menu.
Tip #30: You can change the font used by the chord names by selecting the Fonts menu item on the View menu.
Tip #31: You can add/edit Performance Notes for the score by selecting Performance Notes menu item on the View menu.
Tip #32: When you've finished the entire score, use the Score Polisher (Tools menu) to fix up the score (note alignment, etc.).
Tip #33: If you've got foreign tools that you use when you're transcribing (cd player, etc.), you can add them to the Tools menu by using the Customize menu item
Tip #34: You can quickly jump to a measure in the score by using the Goto -> Measure menu item on the Edit menu.
Tip #35: You can quickly jump to a passage in the score by using the Goto -> Passage menu item on the Edit menu.
Tip #36: You can copy an entire section by using the Copy Special menu item on the Edit.
Tip #37: You can copy an entire position by using the Copy Special menu item on the Edit.
Tip #38: You can shift positions in a section ahead or back by using the Shift Forward/Backward menu items on the Position menu.
Tip #39: You can shift a note from string to string by using the Shift Tab Number Up/Down menu items on the Position menu.
Tip #40: You can quickly navigate through the score by using the Section and Staff menu items on the Position menu.
Tip #41: You can insert a time stamp by using the Special menu item on the Text menu.
Tip #42: You can increase or decrease the width between positions in a section by using the Position Width menu item on the Section menu.
Tip #43: You can change the distance between tablature staff lines by using the Line Height menu item on the Section menu.
Tip #44: Sections can be copied to the clipboard or to file in bitmap format using the Output As Bitmap menu item on the Section menu.
Tip #45: If you don't know the name of the chord at the active position, use the Chord ID tool to list a bunch of possible chord names.
