- Use the program called "gt3vol" from
- http://ps23dformat.wikispaces.com/file/view/gt3vol.zip
- To extract the large .VOL file from Gran Turismo 3
-
- Use the program called offzip from:
- aluigi.altervista.org/mytoolz.htm
- and use it to extract a file from the Day/Eve/Night subfolder in the "Car" folder.
- You run offzip from the commandline which in Windows Vista is under the start menu then
- accessories then command prompt.
- For example if I had offzip.exe in the folder G:\offzip and I had a car file called am0006 in the folder G:\Model
- and I wanted to extract in the folder G:\GT3Extracted
- then in the command prompt I would enter:
- G:\offzip\offzip.exe -a -z -15 G:\model\am0006 G:\GT3Extracted -0
- then press enter, and the program should extract a file and put it in the folder which for me is
- G:\GT3Extracted

- Open up the new file which will be called something like 00000018.dat in Cheat Engine.
- Press "Memory view"
- Then on this new window Right Click on the Left side of the page
- and select "Goto address" and put 0 in the box.

- Then select using your mouse the first Digit to the right of 00000000
- and keep holding it down while using the pagedown button to select the
- entire file (until it turns into question marks ??)
- Right click and select copy to clipboard.

- Then open up a new microsoft word document press select all and make the font size 6, and try to make
- the margins as small as possible to avoid crashing Microsoft word. Also if you can truly disable the automatic spellchecker redlines
- if speeds things up a lot. (Note to self and others need to find out how to disable it in every version theres more then one option to
- disable at least in 2007)

- Then right click and press paste.
- In the following below never type in the quotes "". Also make sure if
- there is a space before the quotes that you have it. So do and some do not
- so pay attention.
- Add a "z" (without the quotes) to the very beginning of the file

- FIND (Use wildcards) "z*00 C0 ?? 68 "
- Replace (Leave Blank) ""
- Press Replace ALL

- FIND (Use wildcards) "40 C0 ?? 62 *00 C0 ?? 68 "
- Replace "00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 "
- Press Replace ALL

- Add a "z" to the very end of the file
- Move the cursor to the very beginning of the file

- FIND (Use wildcards) "40 C0 ?? 62 *z"
- Replace (Leave Blank) ""
- Press Replace ALL

- Open up blanksamplemodel.3ds in cheat engine (you can download it from my website:
- http://ps23dformat.wikispaces.com/file/view/blanksamplemodel.3ds
- Press "Memory view"
- On the top of the new window go to Tools and then select "Fill Memory"
- In the "From" field put in 6E
- In the "To" field put in 515FE
- In the "Fill with" field put in 0
- Press OK

- Right click the left side of the Memory view window and press "Go to address"
- and put in 6E

- Then go back to Microsoft Word and press select all and then copy.
- Go back to cheat engine and right click to the left of 6E and press
- "Paste from clipboard"
- wait a few seconds for it to paste.

- Then close cheat engine completely.

- Start the program called "Blender".
- Go to the File menu, then go to import and select "3D Studio (.3ds)"
- Select your .3ds file then click the button on the right that says
- "Import 3DS"
- Then press the "OK" button
- It is imported but follow the steps below
- to remove the extra material from the mesh
- so that your mesh looks recognizable.

- Select the imported object with your mouse.
- Go to edit mode
- In the Select menu press "Select/Deselect All"
- Zoom in deep on the mesh and press the vertex button.
- Hold down control and make a very tight circle and what looks like
- the convergence of all the many lines. Then press the "Del" button on
- your key board.
- Your mesh should look nice now.
