  1. Use the program called "gt3vol" from
  2. http://ps23dformat.wikispaces.com/file/view/gt3vol.zip
  3. To extract the large .VOL file from Gran Turismo 3
  4.  
  5. Use the program called offzip from:
  6. aluigi.altervista.org/mytoolz.htm
  7. and use it to extract a file from the Day/Eve/Night subfolder in the "Car" folder.
  8. You run offzip from the commandline which in Windows Vista is under the start menu then 
  9. accessories then command prompt.
  10. For example if I had offzip.exe in the folder G:\offzip and I had a car file called am0006 in the folder G:\Model
  11. and I wanted to extract in the folder G:\GT3Extracted
  12. then in the command prompt I would enter:
  13. G:\offzip\offzip.exe -a -z -15 G:\model\am0006 G:\GT3Extracted -0
  14. then press enter, and the program should extract a file and put it in the folder which for me is
  15. G:\GT3Extracted

  17. Open up the new file which will be called something like 00000018.dat in Cheat Engine.
  18. Press "Memory view"
  19. Then on this new window Right Click on the Left side of the page
  20. and select "Goto address" and put 0 in the box.

  22. Then select using your mouse the first Digit to the right of 00000000
  23. and keep holding it down while using the pagedown button to select the
  24. entire file (until it turns into question marks ??)
  25. Right click and select copy to clipboard.

  27. Then open up a new microsoft word document press select all and make the font size 6, and try to make
  28. the margins as small as possible to avoid crashing Microsoft word. Also if you can truly disable the automatic spellchecker redlines
  29. if speeds things up a lot. (Note to self and others need to find out how to disable it in every version theres more then one option to
  30. disable at least in 2007)

  32. Then right click and press paste.
  33. In the following below never type in the quotes "". Also make sure if
  34. there is a space before the quotes that you have it. So do and some do not
  35. so pay attention.
  36. Add a "z" (without the quotes) to the very beginning of the file
  37.  
  38. FIND (Use wildcards) "z*00 C0 ?? 68 "
  39. Replace (Leave Blank) ""
  40. Press Replace ALL
  41.  
  42. FIND (Use wildcards) "40 C0 ?? 62 *00 C0 ?? 68 "
  43. Replace "00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 "
  44. Press Replace ALL

  47. Add a "z" to the very end of the file
  48. Move the cursor to the very beginning of the file
  49.  
  50. FIND (Use wildcards) "40 C0 ?? 62 *z"
  51. Replace (Leave Blank) ""
  52. Press Replace ALL

  54. Open up blanksamplemodel.3ds in cheat engine (you can download it from my website: 
  55. http://ps23dformat.wikispaces.com/file/view/blanksamplemodel.3ds
  56. Press "Memory view"
  57. On the top of the new window go to Tools and then select "Fill Memory"
  58. In the "From" field put in 6E
  59. In the "To" field put in 515FE
  60. In the "Fill with" field put in 0
  61. Press OK

  63. Right click the left side of the Memory view window and press "Go to address"
  64. and put in 6E
  65.  
  66. Then go back to Microsoft Word and press select all and then copy.
  67. Go back to cheat engine and right click to the left of 6E and press
  68. "Paste from clipboard"
  69. wait a few seconds for it to paste.

  71. Then close cheat engine completely.

  73. Start the program called "Blender".
  74. Go to the File menu, then go to import and select "3D Studio (.3ds)"
  75. Select your .3ds file then click the button on the right that says 
  76. "Import 3DS"
  77. Then press the "OK" button
  78. It is imported but follow the steps below
  79. to remove the extra material from the mesh
  80. so that your mesh looks recognizable.

  82. Select the imported object with your mouse.
  83. Go to edit mode
  84. In the Select menu press "Select/Deselect All"
  85. Zoom in deep on the mesh and press the vertex button.
  86. Hold down control and make a very tight circle and what looks like
  87. the convergence of all the many lines. Then press the "Del" button on
  88. your key board.
  89. Your mesh should look nice now.
