Founded in 1973 by the Lewin family and located on Florida's Gulf Coast, Mill Pond Press publishes limited edition art prints by more than 50 contemporary artists. Mill Pond Press prints embody high quality, collectibility and enduring beauty.
A Look Back
Mill Pond Press began modestly, ostensibly as the retirement project of Robert and Katherine Lewin. The Lewins believed that they could transform original paintings into beautiful limited edition prints, without compromising the integrity of the original paintings. They agreed to publish the wildlife paintings of two dear friends, Roger Tory Peterson, America's most-honored artist/naturalist, and Maynard Reece, the only five-time winner of the Federal duck stamp competition.
Dedicated to finding and developing new artistic talent, the company began to add different genres and additional artists. The diverse talents, styles and media have enriched the Mill Pond Collection. All artists have been recognized by art collectors throughout the world as outstanding in their respective fields.
A Commitment To Conservation
The Lewins were committed to conservation and wildlife preservation long before such causes became popular. Consequently, Mill Pond's limited edition prints have raised more than $10 million for global environmental efforts, benefiting organizations such as Canadian Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited, The Harmony Foundation, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, The National Wildlife Federation, Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, Wildfowl Foundation, Inc., Wildlife Conservation International, Wildlife Habitat Canada, The World Center for Birds of Prey/Peregrine Fund and World Wildlife Fund. Wildlife prints by Mill Pond's renowned artists have also been instrumental in helping to raise environmental awareness. Mill Pond's artists have been honored, not only for their extraordinary contributions to art, but for their conservation efforts and literary achievements as well.
A Commitment To Excellence
Over the years, Mill Pond has published more than 2,400 images of landscapes, seascapes, Western, wildlife, Americana, floral, figure and fantasy art as featured in its regular publication, Art for Collectors. Prized by collectors, Mill Pond Press limited edition prints are offered through an international network of over 1,500 authorized dealers. The Mill Pond Collection also includes original hand-colored lithographs, etchings, serigraphs, sculpture, graphics, photographic art, open editions and posters in addition to photomechanical reproduction prints. Several years ago, Mill Pond Press entered the world of book publishing, winning The 1993 Publishers Marketing Associations coveted Benjamin Franklin Award for Fine Arts. Mill Pond has also produced videos of artists at work in the field and in the studio.
A Commitment To Quality
From its inception, quality was the Mill Pond Press ideal, a philosophy that is evident in all facets of the company's operation. As a publisher, the company oversees every aspect involved in the creation of a limited edition print, working closely with the artist and select groups of master craftsmen. The tradition of printmaking is several hundred years old, and, although advances in technology allow greater accuracy in the reproduction of artwork, the creation of a Mill Pond print is still a complex, artistic process.
A dedicated group of professionals use as many colors as is necessary to reproduce the spirit and color of the original painting. Printing inks, formulated to be light resistant and tested for durability, are applied to museum quality art paper. This archival paper, pH neutral and buffered, is made to Mill Pond's specifications and is designed to last for generations.
The quality of these prints isnt compromised by considerations of budget or schedule. Each edition honors the integrity of the original work of art. Each bears the artist's personal approval, as evidenced by that artist's signature. From concept to completion, each print is carefully planned, crafted, curated, processed, assigned, handled and shipped.
An Ongoing Commitment
Guided by the Lewins, a family of vision, Mill Pond Press looks to the future with commitment to high standards and innovation. In keeping with those goals, Mill Pond Press recently became the first major art print publisher to enter the information superhighway. The Mill Pond Press
