Pulaski recovered from the disease thanks to a transporter-based technique, this despite the fact that she harbored a phobia about transporter use. (“Unnatural Selection” [TNG]). Pulaski cared for Kyle Riker after he was nearly killed in a Tholian attack in 2353. The two fell in love and Pulaski would later recall she would have married him “in a cold minute” given the opportunity, but that Riker had “other priorities.” Following her involvement with Riker, Pulaski married three times. As of 2365, she noted that she remained good friends with all three men. (“The Icarus Factor” [TNG]). Counselor Troi commented once that Pulaski's greatest medical skill was her empathy with her patients, evidenced by the use of “PCS” ­ Pulaski's Chicken Soup ­ in treating the flu virus. Her first episode was “The Child” (TNG), and her last was “Shades of Gray” (TNG). To Chief Miles O'Brien, the computer seemed to be craving attention much like a puppy who didn't like to be left alone. He created a subprogram labeled “Pup” and filled it with all main computer back-up functions, then downloaded the probe data into the file. The life-form had its own place in the computer system where it could interface with the backup functions and not cause further malfunctions. (“The Forsaken” [DS9]). We did not learn the name of the culture from the Gamma Quadrant that sent the probe that carried Pup to Deep Space 9. The probe model itself was a modification of the Cytherian probe originally built for “The Nth Degree” (TNG).
