Mot was responsible for the hairpieces worn by Captain Picard and Commander Data when they masqueraded as Romulans on a covert mission to Romulus in 2368. (“Unification, Part I” [TNG]). The Enterprise -D barber was first seen in “Data's Day” (TNG), where he was played by Shelly Desai and named V'Sal in the script, although that name was never used on the air. In later episodes, the character was called Mr. Mot and was played by Ken Thorley. We suspect the two were supposed to be the same person since it seems unlikely that the Enterprise -D would have two barbers who were both Bolians. Mot was first referred to by name in “Ensign Ro” (TNG).

Although this plan was not entirely successful, M'ret and his aides were later transported to the Enterprise -D. M'ret's escape had been engineered by Ambassador Spock, working with the dissident underground on Romulus. Spock hoped that M'ret's defection would help establish an escape route for thousands of other Romulan dissidents who lived in fear for their lives. (“Face of the Enemy” [TNG]). Brought aboard the Enterprise in 2266 when his damaged ship disintegrated, Mudd was charged with several violations and his extensive criminal record was discovered, including: smuggling, transport of stolen goods, and purchasing a space vessel with counterfeit currency. One scam involved the illegal Venus drug and giving it to the women he recruited as wives for settlers on distant planets, including Rigel XII. His ruse discovered, Mudd was convicted and incarcerated. (“Mudd's Women” [TOS]). Mudd somehow escaped from the authorities and then established what he called a “technical information service,” selling the Denebians all rights to a Vulcan fuel synthesizer. When it was found that Mudd did not have the rights to make such a sale, Mudd was arrested. Upon learning that fraud carries a death penalty on Deneb, Mudd broke jail and was pursued by a patrol, which fired and damaged his ship. He drifted in space until he came to a class-K planet inhabited by sophisticated androids from the Andromeda Galaxy. The androids dubbed him Lord Mudd and provided for his every need, except the need for freedom. In 2267, Mudd sent an android named Norman to commandeer the Starship Enterprise in hopes that he could trade the Enterprise crew for his own freedom. Upon escaping from the androids, Captain Kirk left Mudd on the android planet as punishment. (“I, Mudd” [TOS]).

In the script, the apelike creature was called a gumato. Janos Prohaska was also the Horta from “Devil in the Dark” (TOS) and the Excalbian from “The Savage Curtain” (TOS).

This project was expected to render Jeraddo uninhabitable, so it was necessary for Mullibok and his friends Baltrim and Keena to evacuate their home. When they resisted, Major Kira Nerys was assigned to persuade them to leave before the energy tap project endangered their lives. (“Progress” [DS9]).

The modified tractor beam was successful in diverting an approaching stellar core fragment that threatened Bates's home on Moab IV, but use of the beam caused loss of life-support systems throughout the ship.
