He was nearly successful in simulating the destruction of the Shuttlecraft Justman, and kidnapping Dr. Beverly Crusher. Jo'Bril was killed by Crusher when she discovered his plan. Jones became embroiled in a dispute between Federation and Klingon personnel at the station when his tribbles multiplied prodigiously, theatening to consume storage bins of valuable grain.
Jones' punishment for his part in the mischief was to pick up every tribble on the station, a task Spock estimated would take at least 17 years, seeing as there were 1,771,561 of them. (“The Trouble with Tribbles.” [TOS]). Actor Stanley Adams cowrote “The Mark of Gideon” (TOS).

DNA gene type matching identified the boy as Jeremiah Rossa, the grandson of Starfleet admiral Connaught Rossa. Jeremiah's parents had been killed in a Talarian attack on Galen IV in 2356. Investigation revealed the boy to have been captured by Talarian officer Endar, who raised the boy as his own son in accordance with Talarian custom.
Although examinations by Enterprise -D personnel suggested the boy might have been physically abused in Endar's care, further investigation revealed that Jono now considered Endar to be his true father, and Picard released Jono to Endar's custody, despite objections from the Rossa family. Enterprise -D personnel had been responsible for the accidental death of Junior's mother, prior to Junior's birth. Accordingly, Dr. Crusher devised a technique to use the ship's phasers to perform a cesarean section on the mother's body, allowing Junior to live. Shortly after the delivery, the creature physically attached itself to the ship's hull, absorbing power directly from ship's systems. Geordi La Forge, with help from visiting engineer Leah Brahms, was able to modify the ship's internal power frequencies to effectively “sour the milk,” thereby weaning the child. Junior was last seen, along with other members of its species, in the asteroid belt near the Alpha Omicron system. (“Galaxy's Child” [TNG]). According to Captain Picard, the appellation “Junior” was not to be the creature's official name, but it seems to have stuck.

In an early version of the script for “The Best of Both Worlds, Part II,” the story was still considered to be so confidential that each copy of the script was secretly numbered. The number of the Jupiter Outpost (in this case, 92) was different in each copy of the early draft script, so that if unauthorized copies were made, it would be possible to trace whose copy it came from.

Earlier that year, a simulation of the Justman served to transport the computer-based intelligence known as Professor James Moriarty into a computer-generated environment. (“Ship in a Bottle” [TNG]). The Justman was named by Star Trek executive producer Rick Berman, in honor of his colleague, Star Trek producer Robert H. Justman, a veteran of both the original Star Trek series and Star Trek: The Next Generation. The full-sized shuttlecraft filmed on stage was labeled “Justman,” although a different shuttle design was seen in the visual-effects scenes of a miniature shuttle in flight.
