While searching for a missing Maquis ship, the U.S.S. Voyager is transported to the distant unexplored Delta Quadrant of the galaxy along with the Maquis ship. The Maquis members join the crew of the Voyager when their ship is destroyed. This was the two-hour long first episode of the Star Trek: Voyager series, and introduces the Starship Voyager and her crew, including Captain Kathryn Janeway. Originally produced as a two-hour made-for-television movie, “Caretaker” was later aired as two one-hour segments. Armin Shimerman made a cameo appearance as Quark in this episode.
