- This volume should contain the following files:
-
- EDAN1.MID - A HEAVY CLASSICAL PIECE
- Written during exam time (as you should be able to hear).
- The string section and picollo was only added about 6
- months after the original piece was composed.
-
- EDAN2.MID - AN UPBEAT THEME (PERHAPS AS AN INTRODUCTION TO A TV PROGRAM)
- This composition slowly built up. I listened to the piece many
- times to hear where it was boring. At these boring parts I
- enriched the song with other instruments. I continued
- doing this until I became all-together bored.
-
- QUEEN.MID - ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, BY QUEEN
- The entire drum, bass, and muted/jazz guitar backing for
- this song. Every drum and bass note is almost exactly the same
- as the original. The tempo is also identical.
-
- RAINMAN.MID - RAINMAN, THE THEME TUNE TO THE MOVIE
- This, in fact, was the very first piece that I had ever
- sequenced on a multi-timbral module (MT-32). I must say
- that it still remains as one of my favourites.
-
- SHAKEHEA.MID - SHAKE YOUR HEAD, BY WAS NOT WAS (PRONOUNCE IT AS YOU WISH)
- I enjoyed doing this backing. It is fairly close to the
- original except for the unusual drum set that they use.
-
- TINA.MID - WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT, BY TINA TURNER
- I've always thought that this was one of Tina Turners
- greats. I particularly enjoy the simple guitar strumming
- in this sequence.
-
- VOGUE.MID - VOGUE, BY MADONNA
- Let me firstly apologise for the exceptionally poor ending
- that I have "stuck" on the tail of this song. Otherwise
- not such a bad backing of the erotic to sometimes liberally
- vulgar Madonna.
-
- I would be most appreciative if you could mail me to give me your opinion
- of the above compositions. Any recommendations would also be welcome. I would
- love to know how they sound on the Gravis Ultrasound or any other general
- midi module or sound card.
-
- I do realise that many of the above songs have many instruments on one
- track which makes modifications that much more difficult. I was forced to
- do this as I used a sequencing program which only provided ten tracks. Also
- some music data go mangled during the conversion of the file into midi
- format - so you may hear an odd note here or there.
-
- You may also notice that some of the songs come to a dead halt as an
- ending. I must confess that it was sheer laziness on my part. Finishing off
- the songs can be done merely by a copy and paste command. A good example of
- this is "shakehea". A few minutes could be added to the song without having to
- play a single note.
-
- I originally arranged "rainman", "queen", "hazard", "tina" and "vogue" on the
- Roland LAPC-1. Please mail me if you want the original versions (with the
- instrument reprogramming).
