  12. I.      Introduction for Excel Progs
  13.  
  14.     Excel Progs is a small yet rapidly growing shareware development
  15.     organization whose members combined have decades of experience
  16.     in the computer industry.  While Excel Progs currently is
  17.     focusing on Windows applications, Excel Progs has also created
  18.     computer-independent .MID (Midi) songs and is always into new
  19.     ideas for computer products on all platforms.
  20.  
  21. II.     Current Product Information:
  22.  
  23.     o    EPDistrib (Volume 1)
  24.  
  25.         EPDistrib is a quarterly electronic magazine in Windows 3.1+
  26.         format for shareware users and system administrators alike.
  27.         EPDistrib is an entertaining and informative mixture of text,
  28.         graphics, and sound, combined in an easily-navigable elec-
  29.         tronic magazine.  The EPDistrib magazine contains several
  30.         regular    articles, including:  "Letters to the Editor," "EP
  31.         Sites," "Taglines!," and "Mythdancer's Shareware Reviews"--
  32.         informative reviews of many products in the shareware industry
  33.         (not just by Excel Progs!) including detailed software descrip-
  34.         tions, right down to the installation procedures.  The magazine
  35.         will carry other articles, all of which are accessible
  36.         by a table of contents button window.  EPDistrib requires the
  37.         Midi Machine 2.00 program to run (an application found on many
  38.         FTP and distribution sites), and includes a simple setup
  39.         program.  Once installed, a double-click of the magazine's
  40.         icon runs the program.

  42.     o    Midi Machine V2.00
  43.  
  44.         Midi Machine v2.00, a multimedia app. for Win3.1+, is a MID/
  45.         WAV/BMP/ICO/TXT//WMF, and audio CD player, as well as a multi-
  46.         media demo creator.  It supports album loading and saving,
  47.         header midis to offset problematic MIDI codes, shuffle
  48.         playback, and more.  A professional multimedia script language
  49.         is included which allows the creation of demonstrations util-
  50.         izing text, graphics, sound, music, tiled backdrops, and button
  51.         paging.  Midi Machine V2.0 is EASY to set-up, and features
  52.         mouse-sensitive one-line help and right-click detailed help.
  53.         Drag&drop files straight from the file manager or other drag-
  54.         and-drop supported applications.  Animated icons "dance" to
  55.         the multimedia.  A full help engine is also included, and

  126.         Midi Machine V1.21 is a .MID/.WAV jukebox/file manager for Win 
  127.         3.1+ Midi Machine plays songs in many different ways:  random, 
  128.         shuffle, backwards, continuous, or combinations of the previous.  
  129.         Album Load/Save is supported, allowing you to listen to your 
  130.         favorite sounds all at once.  Auto-play after drag&drop sound 
  131.         selections from programs such as File Manager is supported.  
  132.         Icon animations "dance" to the sound of your favorite tunes - 
  133.         over a dozen are included with support for externals.  
  134.         Command-line options allow you to run your favorite albums 
  135.         and play modes at start-up.  There is mouse-sensitive help as 
  136.         well as an external text documentation file.

  162.     o       MALEK1.MID (MIDI Song File)
  163.  
  164.         An alternative to the normal classical style.  Auxillary 
  165.         percussion (timpani, vibes, and bells) start the file in a 
  166.         very jarring motion, leading to a string and choir 
  167.         introduction and a temporary calming of the bass.  The bells 
  168.         return along with short bursts of the timpani. Vibes signal 
  169.         the introduction of a softer mode, and the piccolo takes a 
  170.         brief stint as soloist. Once again, auxillary percussion 
  171.         commences as the string dies down and the sound returns to its 
  172.         original state.  At last, the timpani beats a few dying notes 
  173.         and decays.
  174.  
  175.     o       MALEK2.MID (MIDI Song File)
  176.  
  177.         This movement begins with a slight auxillary percussion base, 
  178.         with the New Age/Flute and Vibes alternating melody.  The 
  179.         melody begins to get higher and higher; a peak is reached and 
  180.         the base lowers.  Soon a running part is established by the 
  181.         clarinet/flute duet as the piece reflects beginning melodies.  
  182.         This reflection leads to the first climax as the SoundTrack FX 
  183.         rumbles in the bottom underneath the string melody.  The Choir 
  184.         takes the lead as the sound mellows. After its turn at solo, 
  185.         the flute running part begins again; the song reaches its final
  186.         climax and toms are beaten in the background.  The New Age 
  187.         penetrates the lower voices reaching higher and higher, breaks 
  188.         free, and decrescendoes to the end.
  189.  
  190.     o    MALEK3.MID (MIDI Song File)
  191.  
  192.         This movement begins with a percussion start to the familiar
  193.         high-low rhythm found in earlier movements, with strings
  194.         formulating texture as choir pads and leads fall into the fray.
  195.         The sound of New Age powers in on its high tonalities, while
  196.         Aahs provide a lower counter-melody.  Soon multiple counter-
  197.         melodies vie each other for the attention and the percussion
  198.         drops out.  Bass takes over as the tempo decreases, but the 
  199.         high melody only relinquishes its power temporarily and return 
  200.         to the mixture.  A slow pattern travels amongst the various 
  201.         instruments and morphs into odd chords and a re-emergance of 
  202.         percussion.  Pulses of Soundtrack FX spike as Aahs begin their 
  203.         measures of running notes as a slow, dark, melody continues.  
  204.         Portions of the original melody return to haunt in the form of 
  205.         the Accordion.  All voices break away, the tempo speeds, and
  206.         the original melody takes over with loud orchestral hits.  The
  207.         melody experiments with an assortment of keys and the orchestra
  208.         relaxes.  Soon all that remains is the percussion and a low
  209.         5ths lead.  Strings bring in a syncopated rhythm which finds
  210.         its way to the Choir Aahs.  The old melody will never die, 
  211.         however; the accordion once again asserts its prescence in a 
  212.         faster version of the original high-low rhythm.  A break for 
  213.         orchestra hits - and the original bass counter-melody with the
  214.         Choir Aahs return, also faster.  The instruments slip away, but
  215.         bounce back with a vengance, with powerful orchestral hits 
  216.         making its rounds as the bass counter-melody.  When the sound 
  217.         gets almost too powerful, everything save a few lonely voices
  218.         fade..they share a brief chord, and fade themselves to the end.
  219.         
  220.     o       Excel-PWD V1.0
  221.     
  222.         Excel-PWD is a Windows application allowing you to create 
  223.         difficult passwords "on-the-fly" for usage on bulletin boards, 
  224.         Internet, or computer services.  You can create passwords of 
  225.         multiple types, depending on how long you wish the passwords 
  226.         can be and what characters the host system supports in the 
  227.         password.  Also included is an E-Text discussing why passwords 
  228.         are so extremely important in this day and age.
  229.  
  230.     o       STI V1.1 (Studley The Icon) 
  231.  
  232.         S.T.I. is described as "Your Personal Desktop Exercise
  233.         Motivator."  In plain English, Studley will try to motivate
  234.         you to exercise a little more.  While the iconized Studley
  235.         performs his healthy regiment of moves, why not join him!
  236.         This program is now *POSTCARDWARE.*
  237.  
  238. III.    How to Become a Distributor Site
  239.  
  240.     Excel Progs is looking for more bulletin boards and information 
  241.     services to serve as distributor sites.  This works well for both 
  242.     parties:  Excel Progs is able to send its software to a larger 
  243.     audience, and your service has more to advertise about.  Your users 
  244.     know that the latest in Excel Progs utilities, songs, and games 
  245.     (coming soon!) can be found first on your service.  
  246.  
  247.     Excel Progs is accepting applications on the basis of "first come, 
  248.     first serve."  There will be one distributor site per county.  A 
  249.     "county" is described in this text as a place which holds a telephone 
  250.     connection to your service for the public (i.e., if you have a service
  251.     in Knox County (Knoxville, TN) which has an Anderson County (Oak Ridge,
  252.     TN) connect line open only to members, your site will be considered to
  253.     be an Knox Co. site ONLY.  If the line becomes public and no site has 
  254.     already appeared in Anderson Co., you will be considered to be a 
  255.     site for both counties.
  256.  
  257.     Excel Progs shall have the sole task of determining whether two or more
  258.     services are considered "too close" to both become distribution sites.
  259.  
  260.     We are asking for services that have been up for at least a year, 
  261.     show promise of being up for much longer, and have potential for 
  262.     growth.  If your service goes down for a small period of time you 
  263.     will retain your site number when you return; in cases of serious
  264.     down-time the site number may be awarded to someone else.  Thus, it 
  265.     is imperative that if your service goes down for a time greater 
  266.     than a month or if it is to go down permanently that you immediately 
  267.     contact Andrew Malek of Excel Progs.
  268.  
  269.     We are looking for "family" services.  Note that this does not mean 
  270.     exclusively religious services, just those that don't cater 
  271.     exclusively to adult users.  This also does not exclude services that 
  272.     responsibly have adult sections hidden to the general public.

  274.     We are looking for public domain/shareware/freeware/post-cardware/
  275.     ..etc services ONLY!  If you are a pirate site or hold ANY pirate 
  276.     files, then we appreciate you not applying.
  277.  
  278.     Excel Progs is new, and is currently an organization, not an 
  279.     official business.  As a new group, you have the opportunity to be 
  280.     one of the first to be a distributor site.  In the event Excel Progs 
  281.     formally is established as a business, your distributor site numbers 
  282.     shall be transfered in the proper ways, if necessary.

  284.     As a distributor site, you need to keep up with the newest Excel
  285.     Progs products.  We ask that you call Idaho Interactive BBS at least
  286.     once every 3-6 months, and, if you wish, in the meantime, acquire
  287.     all Excel Progs products at your convenience from sources such as 
  288.     CompuServe (C) and Internet FTP sites, where they are uploaded
  289.     on a semi-regular basis (Feel free to call Idaho Interactive
  290.     as often as you wish...the 3-6 months is only a suggestion for
  291.     software acquisition).  If you run Major BBS with Majornet, we
  292.     ask that you take the official support forum (mentioned later in
  293.     this file).  We also ask all sites to mention that they are a support
  294.     board in opening screens, bulletins, advertisements,..etc, if
  295.     possible.

  297.     Regarding Idaho Interactive BBS, you will receive an account 
  298.     and password regarding your formal confirmation (when you receive 
  299.     postal mail regarding the confirmation).  ALL Excel Progs files 
  300.     shall be on Idaho Interactive BBS in the file area EXCEPROG.  Just 
  301.     type L F S EXCELPROGS to access the files.  Type F S EXCEPROG to
  302.     access the forum area.  You may download individual files or download
  303.     the entire batch as the EPALLx.ZIP files (all such downloads are
  304.         free from time restrictions!)  If for some unknown reason Idaho
  305.         Interactive ceases to exist, Excel Progs will try all possible
  306.         routes of establishing a new home board or new methods of
  307.         distributing its files.

  309.     To apply, simply print and fill out the form located near the end of 
  310.     this text and mail to the address specified.  Or, fill it out
  311.     electronically and send it via Internet electronic mail.  Upon
  312.     approval, you shall receive in the coming weeks your confirmation
  313.     letter, number, and other information Excel Progs feels appropriate.
