ΓÇó During the startup sequence, you can prevent AutoCatΓäó from loading by clicking the mouse button or pressing the [Shift] key.
ΓÇó AutoCatΓäó only catalogs diskettes when they are ejected by the Put Away command or when the icon of a diskette is dropped on the Trash. If you eject a diskette using Eject Disk and you later drop its "ghost" icon on the trash, AutoCatΓäó does nothing.
ΓÇó AutoCatΓäó identifies a disk by its name and its creation date. If you use disks with identical names and creation dates, AutoCatΓäó will become confused ! (It could happen if you buy formatted disks.) If you change the name of a disk, AutoCatΓäó will create a new folder with the new name, but will not erase the old folder or its contents.
ΓÇó Warning ! When AutoCatΓäó catalogs a disk already cataloged (i.e. with the same name and creation date), it first erases the AutoCatΓäó folder bearing the name of the diskette. So, don't use folders with the same name and creation date as the disks in your Cataloged disks folder. (I suggest you keep only AutoCatΓäó folders in the Cataloged disks folder.)
• If you have floppy disks with identical names, the folder created by AutoCat™ will be called "name", "name - 2", "name - 3", and so on… Avoid naming your disks with this method ! Note that AutoCat™ does not recognize MS-DOS disks with the same name : if you have 2 MS-DOS disks called "name" there will be only one folder called "name".
ΓÇó If AutoCatΓäó can't find the Cataloged disks folder, the Desktop Folder of your startup disk becomes the location for new catalog entries.
ΓÇó AutoCatΓäó takes up very little RAM : less than 10K.
ΓÇó If there is a problem when AutoCatΓäó is loading during startup, the AutoCatΓäó icon is crossed out. If that happens, throw away any existing AutoCatΓäó preferences file in your Preferences folder (located within your System Folder). You can also try to throw away the last folder created by AutoCatΓäó.
ΓÇó If you use Gatekeeper, you have to create privileges for AutoCatΓäó : in the "Privileges" section of the "Gatekeeper Controls" control panel, add the "AutoCatΓäó" control panel and select the "Other", "File" checkbox. This is necessary because AutoCatΓäó creates aliases and modifies them. Similarly, you may have to configure your anti-viral program if you notice a conflict with AutoCatΓäó.
