  1. Uncle Sam Screen Saver

  3. This screen saver is a "Time Out Screen Saver" written by
  4. Choice Data Systems, Inc. 
  5.  
  6. Program Features:

  8.  User selected speed.
  9.  User selected number of character animations
  10.    - Choose from one to eight large animations
  11.    - Choose from zero to twelve small animations
  12.  Password protection support - Keep your PC secure if you need to.

  14. Program Requirements:

  16.  Operating System - Windows 3.1x, WFW, Windows 95, or NT
  17.  Processor - 386DX or higher
  18.  Video - VGA, 256 colors or more
  19.  
  20. Installing the screen saver:
  21.  
  22. Unzip the files to an empty directory. Once unzipped, copy
  23. the file named Unclesam.scr to your Windows directory.
  24.  
  25. Once installed, you can then select the screen saver through the
  26. normal system screen saver selection under the desktop settings in
  27. the control panel (or the display properties settings for Windows 95
  28. and NT 4.0).

  30. Uninstalling the screen saver:
  31.  
  32.  Delete the file named Readmez.txt from the directory you created
  33.  to unzip the files into. You can remove the directory if it is empty.
  34.   
  35.  The screen saver program itself is named Unclesam.scr and will
  36.  be in your Windows directory. It should also be deleted.
  37.  
  38.  After the first time a configuration change is made, several lines
  39.  are added to the control.ini file in your Windows directory. These
  40.  will be under the heading [ScreenSaver.UncleSam] and can be deleted
  41.  if you are familiar with editing ini files. If you are not, we
  42.  recommend that you leave them there and not attempt to edit
  43.  the file.

  45. The animations in this program require significant system resources
  46. and therefore it is not recommended for use on computers performing
  47. lengthy processing during screen saver periods such as file transfers,
  48. or on network servers. It will run properly in these cases but would
  49. most likely slow those functions.

  51. Please make sure that your screen colors are set to 256 or more and
  52. that you have the latest drivers for your video card if you experience
  53. any problems. Using a large number of animations may slow the screen
  54. saver down if you have slow video hardware.

  57. copyright and may not be used without the prior written consent of
  58. Choice Data Systems, Inc.
