- Non-Pixel Explosions
- =============================================================================
- This file removes those annoying pixelated explosions!
-
- During the intial release of Qtest and Quake Shareware 0.91, quite a lot of
- people complained in the newsgroups about the "unrealistic" and annoying
- pixelated explosions. I felt the same. For some reason, those explosions
- just didn't look like they fit into the game. Last time I saw explosions
- like that were on my Apple 2 while I was playing the game Paratrooper.
- So, taking what little I know of C programming, and quite a lot of trial and
- error, I finally removed those annoying pixelated explosions! =]
-
- Basically, this file removes the pixelated explosions from the rockets and
- any grenades that explode in Quake [yours and the ogre's].
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- To use this file, create a directory in your Quake directory:
-
- Example:
-
- c:\quake\pixels
-
- copy prog.dat [this file] and YOUR config.cfg file from c:\quake\id1
- directory to the c:\quake\pixels directory
-
- run quake with the following command line:
-
- quake -game pixels
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Other things I'm looking into modifying:
-
- [1] Gibs for Tarbabies [not bloody].
- [2] Bouncing Rockets - Lasts for about 10 seconds. Everytime the
- rockets hits a surface, it explodes and bounces to another surface,
- which it explodes again.
- [3] Long Distance Grenades.
- [4] Rubber Nails
- [4] Whatever else I [or others request] can do to make Quake a bit more
- interesting and fun than it already is.

- DISCLAIMER:
-
- Use this file at your OWN RISK! I've tested it out on my version of
- Quake and it didn't erase my hard drive, cause Quake to crash, etc.
