- III: HOW CAN I SEE RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH ON THE SCREEN AT THE SAME TIME?
-
- WORD PERFECT SCREEN SETUP:
- -------------
- In order that WP5.1 DOES NOT automatically wipe out your Russian EGA
- font, you must do this: SET IT TO AUTOMATICALLY SELECT the
- screen mode.
-
- SHIFT-F1 to get to SETUP
- (D) for setup DISPLAY
- (T) for TEXT screen setup
- (A) for AUTOSELECT!
- (C) for color/font choose
- (N) for NORMAL FONT ONLY!
- F7 to exit.
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- EGA/VGA FONT SETUP:
- -------
- In order to actually be able to see what you are editing in Russian,
- you will need THREE files:
-
- RUSSIAN.EGA: is the Russian EGA (VGA) font file. The codes conform to the
- AL'TERNITIVNYJ variant.
-
- LOADRUS.EXE: A font loader program to automatically load the Russian font.
- LOADRUS.EXE AND RUSSIAN.EGA must be in the same subdirectory.
-
- RUSSKEY.COM: Is a replacement KEYBOARD DRIVER. It will allow you to toggle
- between English Key assignments and Russian (phonetic) key
- assignments by pressing SCROLL LOCK. You can enter WP5.1,
- edit in English, press SCROLL LOCK, edit in Russian, and
- press SCROLL LOCK again to get back to English. BE AWARE!!
- while Russian is active your WP5.1 keyboard command letters will
- NOT function properly. To execute WP commands switch back to
- ENGLISH.
-
- Typical Batch file to set up RUSSIAN EGA screen font:
-
- LOADRUS
- RUSSKEY
- WP
-
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Because this is free, there will be very limited support. You can
- play around with it as much as you like. I just ask that you DONT
- change to ASCII code assignments for the Russian.
-
- A note on the keyboard:
- The keyboard is phonetically arranged. This does not conform to any
- standard at all. If you want to change it, I have included the RUSSKEY.ASM
- file. You might want to use the Soviet Standard, though unless you
- really NEED to learn it to type on Soviet Keyboards, my layout is much
- faster. Here are the EXCEPTIONS:
-
- Q=SHCH W=SH U=Y Y=Yerih [=YA ]=YU \=YAW -=backward E ==Short i
- ~=Hard sign ;=soft sign J=CH H=ZH X=X C=TS
-
- That's it folks!
