  1. FONTED consists of several program and    data files.  It contains a  full
  2. font editing  system for  24 pin  printhead printers  (NEC P 5/6/7/9 and
  3. EPSON LQ type) and for 16 * 8 bit screen fonts (as used by the HERCULES+
  4. and HERCULES  INCOLOR graphics    cards, VGA  cards and  some EGA  cards).
  5. There is also a set of    converters to switch between the different  font
  6. formats.

  8. All of these programs have  been written by Burkhard Meißner,  Friedheim
  9. 86, 2390 Flensburg, West-Germany.

  14. egaherc     EGA 14 byte <-> Hercules+/VGA 16 byte font converter
  15. font8        Fully interactive 16 byte screen font editor
  16. fontasm     Reads screen fonts, writes .ASM source segments
  17. fontbrk     Splits 48 KByte RAMfont files into 4 KByte blocks for editing
  18. fonted        24 pin printhead printer download font editor (like font8)
  19. charconv    program to produce self-loading font "programs"

  23. scrfonts    Font files for the HERCULES+/VGA screen

  26. To expand the files, put disk # 1 in drive a: and enter
  27. HD1
  28. After the batch process has completed, put disk # 2 in drive a: and enter
  29. HD2

  31. Then read the READ.ME and the .DOC files to get informed on the system.

  33. There is no  simple installation procedure  for floppy disks,  since the
  34. mix of files varies from user to user.    Just expand any of the    archives
  35. to  a  floppy  disk  (the  archives  fit  neatly on 360 KByte disks) and
  36. proceed reading the documentation files.

  39. All the material on  these two diskettes is  shareware; it means, it  is
  40. copyright Burkhard  Meißner (1990),  but may  be distributed  freely, as
  41. long as no fee is charged on such distribution exceeding the real  costs
  42. of copying  and distributing  the software.   Nobody  except the  author
  43. himself is  entitled to  use any  of the  FONTED files    in a  commercial
  44. environment or to make any profit using FONTED.

  47. and its accompanying files must  not be used for commercial  purposes by
