  4. System requirements:Graphics board (CGA/EGA) and lots of memory.        
  5.  
  6. This program was written and compiled using Microsoft QUICK Basic
  7. ver 3.00 under DOS 3.3 as an exercise in what can be done with BASIC.

  10. It was written on a ARC 286 with 40meg hard disk, 1meg memory, and       
  11. EGA. It has been tested on a Columbia MPC-IV and an AMIGA with Bridge-
  12. Card.

  14. I guarantee nothing!!  This project was started many months ago to see 
  15. what could be done in BASIC (the only language I know much about). I 
  16. soon found that basic is just too slow to handle the data required. 
  17. Out of the hundreds of people who have downloaded the program around      
  18. the world a few have provided financial encouragement and suggestions 
  19. which are implemented in version 2.x. The only thingI haven't done is 
  20. provided the program without my database.( I worked too  hard to have 
  21. that cut out). Most of the Database is avialble on COMPUSERVE as my file 
  22. WORLDDB.ARC in Lib 7 of IBMAPP forum.

  24. The list of capitals is as accurate as I can get from a standard 
  25. atlas.  Some errors have been generated by eyeball interpolation and 
  26. weariness. If you don't like something don't send money or stew about 
  27. it, send me a letter of complaint!!  I will correct as much as possible.

  29. If I feel good and get some complaints I can handle I will put an update
  30. on COMPUSERVE at some time in the future. My updates are a function of 
  31. how my MS is affecting me.

  33. To start a new year's 'traks' simply rename traks to traksyy where yy 
  34. is the year.

  44. I would like to thank those who have sent comments (and especially those
  45. who sent money) based on earlier versions of WORLD. Many of the changes 
  46. are a result of suggestions from users. Some suggestions (such as adding 
  47. color) were not practical. My Data Base is too crude. 
  48.  
  49. No the Data points were not generated by THE FORCE I strained my eyeballs
  50. to create it. It is not available as a separate file and not available for 
  51. commercial use.
